from time immemorial, the woman in this land of ours were treated as a sort of inannimate thing . her placing in society was not at par with other human beings . she had no rights. in hindu shastra , they have been branded just like animals . from the verses of Ramayan written by Mr. Tulsi das, "dhol,ganver,shudra,paashu,naari - ye sab tadan ke adhikari" one may easily draw inferences s to what status has been granted to our mothers. similarly draupadi of mahabharta was reduced to the status of bitch,as she was the wife of five husbands. she was also put a stake in gambling by none else than the so called Dharmraj Yudhithir ! in 'Manusmriti' the ancient hindu code-book, the status granted to woman is quite visibleand she was put to lowest rung of humanity as she was treated at par with the animals by the proprietors of hindu dharma.

Many historians claim that women enjoyed an equal status with men in ancient India. It is said that women were educated, had a say in family matters, took important decisions of life and were free to choose their own husbands. The ancient system of "Swayamvara" is mentioned in holy scripts and also in many epics. A woman in ancient India was respected and was given due importance in the society. Child marriage was unheard of and many women were also famous sages like Gargi, Maitreyi, etc.

THE current trends have reflected the common belief that practice of eliminating the female child will get dicouraged with the economic independence of women on the rise.

WOMEN with the role of raising families and doing hoysehold chores.if nuturing a family is such an insignificant job,then believe me people would not consider mothers next to GOD!!
Today indian woman have more option and opportunities. they moving forward and proving their mettle over domains especially reserved for men. according to an estimate there are more woman doctors ,woman lawyers and woman members of parliment in India than U.S.A.!
those of you who have working mothers , have you ever tried to figure out what price she had to pay , when she tried to emerge from her traditional role as a housewife ? believe me , the answer would be a price too high. if the statistics were to be believed,then women work roughly twice as many hours as men . it seems women are working without any appreciation in turn !
In spite of this they still suffer discremination at the workplace.lets take a common example we all have heard of this term -"item girl"-technically speaking it means a woman in special appearence for a song-dance routine . but their male counter parts are never referred to this way. Even the difference in their remuneration reveals the lopsided attitude.
what further aggravates their plight are the ever ancreasing ancidents of sexual harassment,And believe me no one is spared,How can we 4get the notorious" casing cough"
in our so called glamorous Bollywood,But sucn unwanted sexual behaviours exist not only in workplaces,educational institution but even within our families.there is no place safe for women.why?
Mother Teresa once said,"Give till it hurts".But it seems women ara giving,providing even after they have felt the pain,can we imagine alife without women?our mother,sister,daughter,wife or even friend.She touches our life in away no one else can,And still we fail to deliver them their respect.why?
in recent past,a lot hue n cry is being made over "women's Reservation BILL' by ehe different sectors of the indian society,Different political or apo litical organization but nobody seems to be honest in their persepctives,the political improvement is a must for the all round development of the women,but as in the case of politicians n legislators.our effort may may prove futile.our effort should be directed towards all round development of each n every section of women by giving them their due shares,
IT IS A MUST TO MAINTAIN AND PROTECT CHASTITY,DIGNITY AND DESTINY OF WOMEN.
First of all we must try to treat our female child at par with our male ones .
With the declining sex ratio in our country,it has become a matter of prime concern to look into the bottlenecks and find asolution for them to look forward to a brighter and developed INDIA...........
sON prefference, sex selection, female foeticide whatever we want to call it is a damning indictment of INDIANS IN the 21st CENTURY.Men,women,doctors,nurses,health workers,the media and the govt,we are all involved .we boast of our prowess in it.yet technology is being used in our country to fashion a futurewithout women,or very few of with them?is this progress..............??????????
all said and done its time now to seriously interospect about the circumstances prevailing in our society,past is history,present is here but almost out of our conrol,but the future remains a promise,whether the future will be dark or bright will be determined by our actions now,and don't be so insensitive as to leave the job to the govt.NGO's or women cells.they can fight us, not changed our attitude and mindsets.
Women are self-sacrificing. They always put their needs second especially for their children, spouse, and family members. A mother will put aside a pair of shoes she has been dying to have so that way her child could have what h/she wants. A woman will put aside her career to start a family.
