THE ART OF COMMUNICARE..

Jan 03, '09

                      A SOUL CRIES........

Sonia's (Lady in Red) blog  ' Distorted Perceptions ' has stirred my soul. While penning my compiled thoughts & views on 'The Art Of Appearance' my thoughts were meandering with my checklist for this new year.Top of the chart was my proposed weight loss!
Why did I take this decision all of a sudden??What was it that compelled me to renew myself .........Let's sneek into the past.

"I never get to hear 'Sexy , Gorgeous , Beautiful."
"Always Moti, Tun TUn , Fatso , Double Decker,Jumbo."
"Kis Chakki ka atta khate ho?"
"No one will marry you?"

"I Longed for it"

"I Yearned for it"

"I Desired for it"
                                     "I Craved for it"
Just those beautiful words from a true romantic heart just for me....especially for me!!!

They say 'Beauty lies within'.But who wants to go within in this world of HYPOCRITES.A glamourous conscious society which fantasizes only for perfect figures ensheathed with media created clones .The ordinary layperson is unaware of Liposuction, Botox treatments, Silicone implants & much in demand cosmetic surgery .All in the name of AESTHETIC BEAUTY... wonders with awestruck
lurking desires........"Kaash main bhi aisa hota \ hoti.

Today we greet each other with a hello that is coated with a plastic smile.Do I need to change myself for this plastic society.Of course the answer is a big NO.Physical Beauty is skin deep.....isn't it???. But then life for me has been all jibes -sarcastic, mean, mocking remarks. Most of them from obviously from my so called well - wishers. They hurt very deeply .But somehow my confidence never dented.Parties , social gatherings , get-togethers were always a topic of ridicule. " I want to lose my weight and regain my lost identity." Oh here comes again my meandering confused thoughts...Lost identity...which one the one as a successful trainer or the promising leader in Amway out to create History. No ! No! the identity of looking slim & sexy you silly Nit wit.But I feel sexy & sensuous from within.Isn't that enough.  No ! no! it has to be without Modi & Dunlop Tyres..  Accha! I have to ape some one ! What the hell for??
"Learn everything that's good from others, but bring it in, and in your own way absorb it; DO NOT BECOME OTHERS".I will strive for my unique identity that is conscious of maintaining target weight to be healthy & feel good.

So let me play with this world for a while....ACTION TIME BABY ! !

This time I want to play in this world of DISTORTED PERCEPTIONS.....THE GAME OF "BATTLE OF THE BULGES.....FROM FAT & FIT  it will be
FAT TO FIT.

This is straight from the heart.......LOVE RENOO!!!

DRESSING & GROOMING

Yeah ! My friends we never ever get a second chance to make a first impression.Do we ever bite into a cake whose 'Outer Crust' is not well baked. Its later that a skewer is poked to check if its baked within....The outer traits of one's personality are however a minor part. These are those features which can be groomed but can not be changed. These outer traits are 'How you look to others ' i.e.,Height , Built , Nose , Face , Eyes , Hair , Complexion etc.,

However , as most of my friends here on Fropper agree that the INNER TRAITS make the substance ...so the term 'A woman of substance' or 'A man of substance'....The inward traits form a major part of our personality. They are time & age specific and can definitely be changed or developed. These include as most of us are very much aware:Perception, Learning , Positive Attitude ,Confidence ,Communication ,Assim
ilation & Creativity.

In this Blog I have restricted myself to Grooming & Dressing....

Let's make a Mental Grooming Checklist.

* Bathing is a must.
*
Teeth must be well brushed.Stained or
yellow should be whitened with a tooth
whitener.
* Crooked , gapped or unsightly teeth
needs immediate dental work.This makes
our SMILE more attractive.

* Nails must be trimmed & cleaned.Men &
Women alike need to maintain tasteful
manicure & Pedicure.
* Hair must be neat & in order.Greasy,
matted & messy hair puts people off.If
colouring & highlighting can enhance
your appearance then its worth an
investment.But the fact holds true,'The
less hair you have on your head & face
the more relatable you will be with most
people.So all those out there
balding , just don't panic.Hey you will
definitely seem to get more relatable
every year......(I'm not joking)
* Make-up is to enhance the looks & not
change the person.Prefer to go for the
natural look always. The best is sparing
& modest use of make-up.
* Colognes & Parfums are a must.
Fragrances shouldn't be overbearing.
* Be sure to use a Deodarant or an Anti-
perspirant.
* Mints are excellent mouth freshners.
Elaichi , lavang & saunf are equally good
digestives.A person who is overwhelmed
with your bad odour or bad breath won't
hear a word of what you're saying.....
we won't be standing any close to him...

CLOTHING OR DRESSING

' We all love to spend lots of money for buying new clothes but we never realize the
best & happiest moments are enjoyed without the clothes....'
Hmm...No getting ideas please!!!
Clothing either ways communicates.Over dressing is better than underdressing.
How we look communicates a lot:
"I just got out of the bed."
"I'm the most successful here."
"I don't care what you think, I can behave
the way I want."
"I'm interested in how I relate to you."
We say a lot about ourselves just by walking into a room.People assess our position, purpose & the potential for success the minute we step through the door.Yeah,
it pays to be aware of how we look from the top of our heads to the soles of our shoes.I thank my Style Guru ! (you all know who) to push me hard for whatever little style I carry today. Thanks Buddy!
My first impression of someone special of course the opposite gender naturally was
a stark white shirt & black jeans....Instantaneous attraction in the first flirting glance!!! The languorous look & the purposeful strides are still etched in my memories. But alas! many of us still think ,"When I become successful I'll invest more money in a sharp & neat wardrobe."At least I used to do that.....We must first dress for success to become successful.

Appearance marked with maintained target weight also enhances one's confidence & self esteem.I have personally experienced
that obesity makes it more difficult to communicate with elan.It distracts us from saying what we want to say at least in real conversations. No wonder virtual communication are the in thing these days wherin we discreetly conceal our body image & financial status so easily. Most of us wait untill it is too late to begin thinking
about eating right & excercising our bodies.we ignore the warning signs of bad health until it is too late & we collapse.Well!
this year my dear friends I have for sure embarked on a mission to shed all that weight and churn myself out lighter and less heavier.I'd like to thank some of my close Fropper Buddies here. I hope they are reading to encourage me by their constant motivation & unconditional support.
At a deeper perception " WE HAVE TO ACCEPT WHAT WE CAN'T CHANGE & CHANGE WHAT WE CAN" The fact is that many of us are born with characteristics we may not be able to change.Such as the colour of our skin, our height, our bone structure, or a birth -genetic defect. If you can't change it learn to Love it & Live with it.If you think your physical limitations in life will keep you from fulfilling your greatest potential...consider this:
In 1950 ,Amitabh Bacchan was dismissed with the following statement-"You have a long nose, thin lanky body ,too tall for screen presence, your adam's apple sticks out too far & you talk too slow...." Rest is history as you all know.
So my dear friends let's make a small Sankalpa today & start the New Year with this prayer for ourselves.

"DON'T HIDE BEHIND A LIMITATION IN THE WAY YOU LOOK. USE IT TO SHOUT TO THE WORLD THAT YOU LOVE LIFE."

"GOD GRANT ME THE SERENITY TO ACCEPT
THE THINGS I CANNOT CHANGE,THE COURAGE TO CHANGE THINGS I CAN AND THE WISDOM TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE."

And yes my dear friends...everything said & done about Grooming & Dressing the following lines still hold so true....

NOBODY WILL EVER REMEMBER
HOW YOU LOOK
HOW YOU SPEAK
WHAT YOU DID
OR ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT YOU
BUT THE ONLY THING THEY WOULD
REMEMBER IS......
HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL!

That's all for the day my dear Fropperites.Love you all!!!
Yours RenOO

                           THE ART OF APPEARANCE

At the onset let me wish all my readers A Happy New Year!
Continuing with my series on "what makes a Communicator".I had mentioned in my earlier blogs that learning to practice the art of communication  helps us to achieve meaningful work & fulfilling relationships.

As we begin to master the skills of Effective Communication it is important to learn the secrets to presenting oneself appropriately along with the ideas in our minds. Our appearances at business meetings, interviews, social gatherings, parties or even on a date will communicate a lot .Communication is incomplete without being aware of 'THE ART OF APPEARANCE'.

So let's peep into this piece of ART.We've heard of the expression "You can't judge a book by it's cover,".We may
discover a  great piece of literature under a shabby cover. We might be fooled into buying a sub-standard writing because of fancy art work on the front. The No:1 reason we buy a book is teh title.No:2 reason is the art work. The third motivation is the author's name, and the somewhere down near the bottom of the list is the actual content of the book. Finally the initial decision to buy a book is usually based on the cover of the book. The same holds true with people. We judge them by our first impressions.Clothes not just add to our appearance but they are our appearance.Oh Yes!! the  first impression we make depends on what we wear including the facial expressions we carry along with us.manners & speech are noted afterwards.Character the most toughest of all is discerned (noticed & understood)last of all. Many of my learned friends beg to differ on this with me.Nevertheless it holds true , those first impressions may turn out to be inaccurate indicators. But we do make certain decisions about people based on our initial impressions. For eg:-Someone walks up to you wearing sloppy clothes, exhibiting uncombed hair and in obvious need of a bath ...Don't we end up with some assumptions about that person. We usually think that he or she doesn't have ettiquette or even a healthy self esteem.

It's so true......."YOU NEVER GET A SECOND CHANCE TO MAKE A FIRST IMPRESSION."So the two areas of appearance are GROOMING  & DRESSING.

To be continued.........Aaj ke liye itna bas hain!!!

                  THE SEVENTH LAW

SURRENDER THE BLISS OR JOY OF YOUR MEDITATION.LETTING GO, NOT HOLDING ON EVEN TO PEACE.WHEN YOU HOLD ON TO PEACE,ALL YOU GET IS DISTURBANCE.IF YOU HOLD ON TO JOY,ALL THAT YOU GET IS MISERY.IF YOU DON'T CARE FOR JOY,MISERY WILL NEVER TOUCH YOU.IF YOU DON'T CARE FOR PEACE,NOTHING WILL DISTURB YOU.
EVERYTHING IS PART OF LIFE,SO MAKE USE OF EVERY SITUATION IN LIFE AS A STEP TOWARDS GROWTH.ACCEPT AND RECEIVE EVERYTHING AS A PART OF LIFE.THIS ENDURANCE IS THE SEVENTH SPIRITUAL LAW.WHEN YOU DON'T HANG ON TO PLEASURE YOU BECOME FREE,AND WHEN YOU DON'T HANG ON TO FREEDOM,YOU GAIN LOVE.IT IS A NATURAL LAW, A NATURAL PROGRESSION;THE UNIVERSAL SPIRIT LOVES YOU SO MUCH.YOU MUST KNOW THIS FIRST,GOD LOVES YOU SO MUCH.WHEN YOU FORGET GOD AND TRY TO HOLD ON TO SMALL THINGS,FOR A WHILE,THE DIVINE KEEPS QUIET.THEN A PROBLEM ARISES IN YOUR LIFE.PROBLEMS COME SO THAT YOU CAN BE CENTERED,AND JOY COMES FOR YOU TO SERVE AND BE GRATEFUL.SEEK TO FIND THAT BALANCE,AND MAKE USE OF EVERY SITUATION IN LIFE FOR YOUR GROWTH.

AGGRSSION IS THE ANTIDOTE TO DEPRESSION.WISE ARE THOSE WHO DO NOT FALL EITHER INTO AGGRESSION OR DEPRESSION.

THAT IS THE GOLDEN RULE OF YOGI.JUST WAKE UP AND ACKNOWLEDGE YOU ARE A YOGI.

       THE  SIXTH  LAW

KNOW THAT EVERYTHING IS TEMPORARY ,

 EVERYTHING CHANGES. WHATEVER YOU ADDRESS

AS " THIS " CHANGES. THAT WHICH SAYS " THIS "

THAT DOES NOT CHANGE . THE EXPERIENCE

REMAINS UNTOUCHED , DOES NOT CHANGE .

 " I AM HAPPY ", " I AM UNHAPPY " , WHO IS THIS

          " I " ?   THERE IS NO " I ",

   BUT  " I AM " CONSCIOUSNESS .

  THE LIMITED " I AM " CONSCIOUSNESS , WHEN

 IT  DISSOLVES , BECOMES  " IS - NESS" .

EVERYTHING  " IS " -- THE MOUNTAINS ARE,

  THE TREES ARE , I AM . THE  " I " IS NOTHING

BUT  AN AIR BUBBLE , IT JUST DISAPPEARS .

THAT  IS  SAMADHI ; THAT IS MEDITATION .

                 THE FIFTH LAW

TAKE SOME TIME OFF FOR YOURSELF.

BE ALONE FOR A LITTLE WHILE , A FEW DAYS

       IN A YEAR , A FEW MOMENTS  A DAY.

        THIS CONSOLIDATES THE ENERGY,

              THE SPIRIT THAT YOU ARE.

                THE FOURTH LAW

      NO INDIVIDUAL HAS AN INDEPENDENT

   EXISTENCE. EVERY INDIVIDUAL MIND IS

CONNECTED WITH THE COSMIC MIND. EVERYTHING

HAPPENS WITHIN THE COSMIC TIME-SPACE DESIGN.

TIMES CHANGE, AND FRIENDS CAN BECOME FOES

AND VICE-VERSA. KEEP A DEEP-ROOTED FAITH IN

THE SPIRIT, IN YOUR SELF, AND IN YOUR LIFE.

              THE THIRD LAW

POINT OUT THE MISTAKE BUT ALSO

           OFFER A SOLUTION.IF YOU POSE A

            PROBLEM,AND DO NOT GIVE A

SOLUTION,THEN IT IS ONLY HALF DONE

IF YOU CANNOT FIND AN IMMEDIATE

             SOLUTION,THEN WORK ON FINDING

                A REMEDY TOGETHER.

                                THE SECOND LAW

               STOP BLAMING OTHERS,AND YOURSELF,

AND BEGIN PRAISING OTHERS AND YOURSELF.

THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT YOU SHOULD NOT

MAKE A COMMENT WHEN IT IS NEEDED.

YOU CAN CRITICIZE , BUT THE CRITICISM SHOULD

NOT COME COME FROM THE HEART-----------

IT SHOULD BE LIP CRITICISM ONLY.

  VASUDEVA KUTUMBAKAM........

                                  ONE WORLD  ONE FAMILY

                HAVE  A GREAT DAY.....KEEP THINKING

ON THIS LOVELY THOUGHT............

                                THE FIRST LAW

THE SPIRIT THAT IS RUNNING YOUR LIFE

IS SACRED ,HONOUR THIS LIFE ENERGY.AS

          YOU HONOUR THE LIFE FORCE,THEN

NATURALLY ALL THE OTHER VIRTUES WILL

          BECOME GENEROUS,YOU HAVE A SENSE

          OF BELONGING,AND YOU FEEL CONNECTED

          TO EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY.................& REST OF

YOUR LIFE TILL YOU BREATHE YOUR LAST!!
