What if we were to live our lives backwards?? To be born with all the knowledge and wisdom of the world and slowly lose it as we grew older. Would we be any happier??

For 2 weeks we at fropper were looking for a place to go for a break... needless to say the word Goa kept popping up (I dont know why *wink* *wink*). But ofcourse Goa is very difficult cos we're so busy trying to keep up with the fulfilment of your requests. So finally we decided to take the easy way out, postpone Goa and see about some day trip close by. A large number of places came to mind and were as quickly shot down for a whole assortment of reasons. We finally decided on a place call silver valley or silent valley or something like that with a steepish bill of 800 per head.
We were to go on Sat. On Thurs, Rahul our much loved and appreciated "destination finder" found us 'Harshgiri'.
Sent us the website which promptly did not open and then told us that it wud be about 500 bucks... which immedietly sold us on the idea (us being the biggest kanjus'es around).
Ofcourse we were off on Sat, all us guys, the girls ditched as usual for the usual reasons :P.
7am Kasara train from VT, slight fiasco with train tickets and communication, and voila 8:30 we were milling around Asangoan platform. We were supposed to take a jeep and go to the resort, but we spotted an ST stand... being in a adventerous( read kanjus) mood we jumped into the first "red rattle trap of death" which was heading to Shahapur. After an incidentless journey (read bumped around like a ship in a storm) we reach. Much relieved we got out and beheld in dismay a board stating Harshgiri resort and beyond... nothing.
I mean there were some cows, and a kind of road but nothing else. It was straight out of a movie... 10 intrepid travellers leap out of the transport, which promptly speeds away in a cloud of dust. The 10 guys gathered around a board stating the objective... and then the camera zooms out and the entire barren landscape comes into focus.

k enough drama. We thought the place would be off the road... turns out it IS off the road... 1 km off the road... which is not much fun when one is carrying a heavy bag filled with booze.
Walked, walked, joked, joked, reached. Phew.
Went to front desk... figured out what was going on and then headed for large dorm like room. Quick change and then we were told about the recreation possibilities
boating, rain dance, artificial waterfall, lovely gardens, well maintained roads(mud thankfully) with shady trees on either side, TT, carrom, badminton, swimming pool.

Ofcourse looking at the impressive list we immedietly did the obvious... we went for breakfast.
Come on u guys dont tell me u didnt see that coming.
Ok breakfast done, next we headed off to do some boating. This was fun... nothing close to the fun we had kayakking at Sajan resort but still ok. You know how it is, paddle boats and energy filled guys, we ofcourse bumped around, then jumped from one boat to another. the usual stuff.

Oh before that we had some fun under the artificial waterfall, good strong force, nice back massage.
After the boating, I took a tiny walk and when I came back the guys had popped into the rain dance. In the standard maharashtra heat this is great fun. Add to this some decent music and some great, enthu dancers and we had the making of a great time.

This done we went of to lunch. somehow water makes one very hungry. As I said before the food was quite good. Gujrati place and lots of gujju crowd, but the food was not the typical sweet fare that gujju's are know for. Here the cuisine was tempered with a little maharashtrian chilli.

After lunch the beers came out and so did cots and the like. After a little nap and some carrom, most of the guys decided on a little dip in the pool. I and "JD" felt that a walk in the surrounding forest was a far superior idea and we headed off in that direction.

For a person like me, nature oriented, this was the fun part, late afternoon we saw a number of butterflies the most gorgeous of which was the Blue Mormon. As usual the forest kept us cool and JD and I trekked to the natural waterfall, or the location of it. Then went ahead to the lake side where we just sat and talked. After about half and hour we came back much refreshed... and joined the others who were just back from the swim.

In the evening Mom nature decided to throw us a scare with a 1 hour long heavy downpour accompanied by the brightest and loudest sound and light show I've seen.
But it cleared up and a jeep was called for. All ten of us piled in...Piled is a most appropriate word and we took off for the station.
blah, blah, blah, Train, blah, Accounts, blah, blah, Thane, blah, blah Ghatkopar, blah... Home
Blessed Sleep.

To be in love with who one is and what one does; is that so hard to understand that one has to either be worshiped or persecuted for it?

Do you ever get that feeling, that you've lived this moment before.

You can teach someone to be better than they are, even if you are not better than they are.

you can make them hear you out in that case, but you might not be able to make them listen. Teaching by example is better.

Learning is a choice not to be related to teaching.

But provoking a thirst for knowledge is definetly the responsibility of the teacher.

But the teacher need not know more than the student.

He does. Not in everything, but in what he intends to teach. Why else would the student listen? We're not talking about talent here. Not even wisdom. Only knowledge.

But does the teacher impart knowledge or just the thirst for it.

If he can succeed in invoking the thirst, knowledge can follow.

Why do people agonize over decisions. Why do people 'if and but' for ages before taking a decision.
Is it because they cant deal with the responsiblity of an action taken by them. Is it because after making a decision you have to live with the consequences??
We all take decisions everyday, little ones, large ones if we fret over each of them we'd be wrecks by the time we hit 40. Isn't it time we learnt to take the most 'informed decision' that can be taken and then live with the consequences. By living with the consequences I dont mean 'not changing' a decision. What I do mean is not having regrets. If the decision was not the right one and something can be done about it, then go ahead and do something, but dont regret. If something cant be done about it, then so be it. Again... dont regret.
It really sounds simplistic, but it can be made to work.
I do it all the time. Or maybe its just an optimistic outlook on life that I have.
Hmmmm I wonder

Being better than all else, is not being the best, is it?

I've just read a very thought provoking blog on fidelity... very interesting.
here www.fropper.com/posts/2077
I was writing a comment on the post when I realised... I have a lot to say about this. I've definetly given this a thot and I guess that cheating is like suicide, a cry for help.
Heres what I think... there are 2 kinds of cheating
1. Physical
2. Emotional / intellectual
I feel that emotional or intellictual cheating is far worse than physical.
If I found tht my wife (I'm not married) was cheating on me... I'd sit her down and talk. Communication is the root of all problem and it is also the solution. Sadly not everyone understands this.
One has to be very mature, and really know oneself to listen to their spouse tell them that they are not enough. But if u're strong enuf to listen then ... u're probably strong enough to work out a solution.
With emotional cheating... its unlikely that you have suddenly gotten uninteresting to talk to... its probably wormed into the relationship over time, and u've just not noticed... and hence it can be undone.
With respect to physical. hmmm well to be honest i'm not in a 'position' to talk ;)
The magazines say "spice it up" , "keep it new"... etc, etc

And finally.... isnt it all about making the spouse feel special!!!!

Some days back I posted about my explorations around my area. Of finding caterpillars and some grumpy ppl who dont like u touching their trees.
I guess I understand to an extent, its pretty rare in this city to find a person standing in the middle of the road (apologies to the ppl who read my last post) and staring at a tree. Its more probable that he is a perv trying to get a peep into your house, isnt it?
And if the guys leaps up and tries to catch some leaf or the other. Its really unlikely that u'd think that he is searching for leaves to take home to 4 hungry caterpillars... shux no way cud that happen. More likely he's mad and u shud just shout at him and for emphasis shout for the watchmen.
No one says a thing when a "devotee" walks into a compound and breaks off a beautiful big lily thats just bloomed, nor does anyone find it odd that an old uncle is hanging from a chapha tree and shaking it for all he is worth. All to get flowers back to his/her god.
Doesnt anyone think it odd to honor a god with stolen flowers. Or are they considered not stolen.. What then of leaves for caterpillars, I ask. Stolen they may be... but there is a very large need. 4 living things are at stake here, not some picture or murti.

Ok griping complete, now on to more pressing matters. The 4 caterpillars have pupated. I dont think many of u guys will have ever seen a pupa... If u'll have then I'd be shocked. Anyway about 2 weeks from now they will emerge as beautiful butterflies. That too will be posted of course.

Oh and here is another species of butterfly caterpillar... I'd found on 'False Ashoka' Polyalthia longifolia,,, for the botany students.
