Banana marks seed bank milestone
BBC News

From field to freezer: the journey of a seed bank seed

An international seed bank has reached its target of collecting 10% of the world's wild plants, with seeds of a pink banana among its latest entries.

The wild banana, Musa itinerans, is a favourite of wild Asian elephants.

Seeds from the plant, which is under threat from agriculture, join 1.7 billion already stored by Kew's Millennium Seed Bank partnership.

The project has been described as an "insurance strategy" against future biodiversity losses.

Wild banana, Musa itinerans (RBG Kew)
A wild banana has been chosen as a flagship species

The seed bank partnership, which involves more than 120 organisations in 54 countries, is now aiming to collect and conserve seeds from a quarter of the Earth's flowering plant species by 2020.

All the seeds are kept both in their country of origin and in Royal Botanic Gardens Kew's premises at Wakehurst Place, West Sussex, where they are stored in underground vaults that are kept at -20C.

The plant material is dried, cleaned and sorted, ensuring only the finest specimens make it into the giant freezers. There, the cold and arid conditions keep the seeds in pristine condition for anywhere between a few years to thousands of years, depending on the species.
Seed cleaning (RBG Kew)
The seeds are painstakingly cleaned and sorted

The aim is that each seed stored in the bank can be regrown, should the need arise.

The wild banana plant from China was selected as the "10% species" by the bank's international collaborators because it fulfilled a number of conservation criteria.

Janet Terry, the seed processing manager at the bank, said: "It was chosen because it is representative of what the whole project is all about - it is endemic, endangered and it is an economic species.

"And of course, everybody loves a banana."

Musa itinerans becomes the 24,200th species to have been stored in the seed bank.

Seeds (RBG Kew)

Bank on seeds - the world's buffer

The 10% target was set when the Wakehurst Place facility was completed in 2000.

At that time, it was estimated that there were 242,000 plant species in the world, although more recently it is thought that there might be 300,000.

Professor Stephen Hopper, director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, told BBC News: "In the next phase, we want to secure another 15%, so by 2020 we will have a quarter of the world's seeds banked in both the country of origin and Wakehurst Place.

"And a major focus is going to be a considerable expansion in the sustainable use of seeds for human benefit."

The researchers will be focusing on food security, biodiversity loss and climate change.

Professor Hopper added: "The thing that has changed over this 10-year period is a much more acute awareness of climate change as a threatening process, as well as the many others that impact on plant life.

"And the seed bank, as an insurance strategy, is a good sensible way of keeping your options open for the future.

Gold Coin Market Hots Up In India

With Pushyanakshtra, Dhanteras and Diwali round the corner, jewellers in India have started reeling out their products to beat competition from the banks and other big brands.

In fact, this time around the jewellers have started selling imported gold and silver coins to customers, causing a big competition to the banks.

And, certain jewellers are now offering the coins at lower price than the banks. Some of them have even announced some schemes with the gold and silver coins.

Banks like Corporation Bank, Axis Bank, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC Bank sell coins through their branch network.

Eyeing the big gold coin pie, jewellers in India’s commercial capita Mumbai and Gujarat’s big city Ahmedabad have imported Swiss-made coins, which will be in big demand during the festival season.

Several jewellers have already started selling coins. Since the jewellers sell the coins at a lesser price, banks are finding it tough to face the competition.

Imported coin sales are up 20 per cent this year. India, the world’s biggest importer of the yellow metal, accounts for over 20 per cent of global demand for gold jewellery.

Even though investment-led demand accounts for 30 per cent of gold sales, it is growing faster than the jewellery segment in India now.

Gold coins and bars are better form of investment because one can save on wastage and making charges.

HDFC Bank quotes Rs 18,933 for a 10 gm gold coin, while an Ahmedabad jewellers quote Rs 16,750.

This is a big challenge to fight small jewellers (in coins market) as they have many advantages because of their small scale. Another big disadvantage is banks cannot buy back coins, which again works in favour of jewellers. In fact, several jewellers who buy back the gold coins, sell them at a profit but still the price will be much lesser than the banks.

Banks incur huge holding cost and distribution cost, pretty much higher than the market.

The organised retail market, which is dominated by banks, sells 8 tonnes of coins per year. However, the market for coins and bars is much larger.

India imported 211 tonnes in 2008 for gold bought as investment, while jewellery was at 501.6 tonnes.

GOLD GOLD GOLD EVERY WHERE 712.6 TON OF GOLD=
1 TON =1000KGX1000GM= 1,000,000GRAMS=DIVIDE BY 10GRMS COIN= 100,000 COINS
THAT TO SAY @CURRENT BANk selling rate of Rps 18,933 per 10gram coin = 1,893.300,000Rps

So my national annual figure for india for 2008 gold power will be 1,893,300,000x712.6ton= 1,349,165,500,000Rps. worth of purchase stock piled in the safe deposit of individual buyers..

Is this the real economy of India?? The above figure reads as one thousand three hundred fourty nine bilions, one hundred sixty five millions and five hundred thousand rps.????

woh woh what an amazing fig

now converting this to Us dollars= @45Rps a $=

1,349,165,500,000Rpsdivide by 45= 299,814,222,222US$ that is to say 300billion dollars have gone in the safes of individuals in India..
Crazy Indian gold diggers...With this kind of money you can have all the infrastructure India needs to develop  to become A SUPER super power and both the West and America will come on their polio feet with a begging bowl asking

If you've been betrayed by a spouse who has cheated then this might be the most important message you'll ever read.....

"You're Not Going Crazy. It's Normal. To Feel Angry, Betrayed, And Emotionally Gutted After The Affair –

NOTHING helped or even came close to knowing how couples felt until they ran across to someone they knew as a friend who knew exactly what was going through the individual. It was listed in the exact order, with the exact feelings, and exact thoughts... just couldn't believe it.
Right now, you are probably feeling as though someone has either punched you in the stomach, stabbed you in the back -- or even both.
Finding out your spouse has cheated is like a crazy cocktail of anger, denial, grief and a complete loss of self-esteem. Your feelings may be endless: devastation, shock, sadness, helpless, resentment, disgust and maybe even panic.
You are not alone.
Thousands of couples every single year suffer from the effects of a spouse who has cheated.
It causes unnecessary pain, hurt and depression, and leaves one or both spouses feeling confused and wondering what to do.
And the worst part is that the affair wasn't even necessary in the first place ... it was a mistaken attempt on the cheating spouse's part to find something they thought was missing in their existing relationship.
But here's the most important thing you need to understand: the affair wasn't your fault at all!
That's Right -- It's NOT YOUR FAULT
Sure, you have done some things wrong in your relationship, but you didn't force your spouse to cheat-- they CHOSE to do it.
And understanding THAT is the key to unlocking the secret to saving your marriage, even if you are not sure you want to (which is also normal.)
At the end of the day, we all just want to be with someone who loves us -- someone who makes us happy, makes us feel needed, gives us the attention we deserve and someone who we can trust without having to think twice.
And that's not too much to ask for -- it's something we all deserve.
Here's What You Need To Eliminate the
Images, Get the Details And Decide If
You Want To Restore The Trust...
The marriage is a LIFE with your Partner and to help the couples survive the affairs by quickly getting down to the REAL issues are the most essential matters for both the partners.
Each partner should know their trenches to detect some remarkably consistent patterns that have caused affairs to happen. After all, isn't it important to know WHY it happened in the first place so that either partner can prevent it from happening it again?
A perfect 3-phase system has proven to work time and time again at saving relationships and marriages after an affair even if either partner think their individual circumstances are different.
But there's one question that must be asked first before ANY healing can begin.
Before we get to that all-important question though, there are literally dozens of helpful tips that can be shared with each other after all.
1. How to erase the images out of your mind. This age-old 3-step technique, which can be adapted from the core of cognitive therapy has proven to rescue people who feel shipwrecked from all forms of negative and debilitative negative thinking.

2. How to rebuild your self-confidence, self-respect and self-trust. Seven means to permanently taking control over the negative waves of thoughts, feelings and imaginations.

3. How to get your spouse to answer any question. Using this system will encourage your spouse to share the complete details without making them feel trapped and defensive.

4. How to identify why the affair happened. A step-by-step strategy for opening up your relationship and looking inside with complete honesty.

5. Learn what was missing in the relationship and what you need to do to add it. Uncover what your primary needs are and more importantly what your spouses needs are.

6. How to motivate your spouse to listen and understand your emotional needs. Implementing these 10 critical dimensions into your relationship will help to affair-proof your relationship.

7. How to talk about the details of the affair. There is one reason and one reason only why you should talk about the affair.

8. Discover how to talk to each other. The following 8-step program for developing communication that leads to a happy, healthy relationship after the affair will surely help.

How to know you can trust your spouse again without being taken for a fool.

Learn the  forms of trust and which ones you can give and which ones you can hold back on without harming your relationship.

Having to face a cheater in your relationship or marriage can be extremely confusing ... just getting from one day to the next can be an incredible chore.

So that's why the system described here is remarkably effective -- it shows you exactly what you can say and do right now to survive an affair.

No more wondering if doing this or that is the right thing ... if saying this or that will make things better or worse ... if thinking this or that makes you a good or bad person, etc.

It's finally after all a matter of fact, inside your mind to receive the answers to these tough 10 questions.

1. Why won’t my spouse share the details?
2. How do I deal with the images in my mind?
3. Will they cheat again?
4. How do we restore the trust?
5. Will it ever be the same again?
6. How do I keep it from happening again?
7. Do they still love me?
8. Should I forgive them?
9. How do I learn how to live with the history of this?
10. Why did they do it?

That's it, nothing more is complicated than that from that immediate help
They say God helps those who help themselves, so no need to run to a marriage councillor, a divorce lawyer or to court to split up the marriage or relationship. You can mend it yourself with little effort and forgiveness.

An affair doesn't have to cause the devastation, hurt and pain that you are feeling right now; there is a better way out.
Grab hold of this lifeline thrown at you right now before the tide gets out of control and pulls you out into a sea of unexplained and never-ending emotional pain and heartache.
To share with you that one question talked earlier that you need to ask yourself immediately after the affair has occurred ... this question quickly gets down to the core issue that will determine whether you will ultimately save your marriage or relationship.

Take care and prevent your relationship or marriage with your partner.

Those in trouble learn from the experienced one... Happy reading....

Love Is Life
Sometimes the thought crosses my mind that you were made for me.
Before this you lived among the stars
You were called to earth for me.
Sometimes the thought crosses my mindt hat  your body, your eyes are in trust for me.
The dense shade of your hair is for me alone
These lips, these arms are in my trust.
Sometimes the thought crosses my mind
As if wedding music plays on the road.
It is our wedding night and I'm lifting your veil......You're melting in my arms, blushing with shyness... .....
Sometimes the thought crosses my mind that you'll love me forever.
You'll always look at me with love in your eyes. I know you now belong to me, but still sometimes the thought crosses my mind...

Sometime I grief for you, desire for you no longer exist. My life seems to be drifting along, without the need for companionship.
No path,  no goal,/ no light is necessary. In this dark void, my life stumbles along.  And someday in this very darkness,  I shall lose myself.

We were not like you: saying "Hi" in the morning - drinking tea together in the afternoon getting engaged by the evening!
For six months you caught glimpses of each other through a window - after a year,

"Hello, how are you? Good weather we're having!" and making a plan to look in each other's eyes. Then when you were ready to talk about love you found out that the girl's parents had fixed her marriage to someone else and the poor lover boy was left in the lurch! So what if I've fallen in love? Love is not a crime!

Sometimes the thought comes to my mind
.....

I am a poet only for a few moments,my tale will be over in a few moments. My laughter lasts only for a few moments. My youth will end in a few moments.

I am a poet only for a few moments,
Many poets came and went before me
Some left sighing, And some left singing, Their story only lasted a few moments
I too will only live a few moments.

Tomorrow I will be taken from you,
But for today, I am yours. I am a poet only for a few moments, Tomorrow new tunes will arrive like freshly bloomed flowers to be plucked.

There will be better storytellers than me,and better listeners than you.Tomorrow, someone might remember me...But why should anyone remember me?  For my sake, why should this busy world waste its time?

I am a poet only for a few moments...
I am a poet for every moment, my tale will last for every moment, My laughter is immortal,  My youth is everlasting. I am a poet for every moment.

The form of a relationship changes, but its foundation lasts forever the time for dreams and desires never ends.

A flower holds your beauty, it holds my youth. A face is a token of you, it is a token of me. I am a poet for every moment,

My tale will last for every moment, My laughter is immortal, My youth is everlasting.  I am a poet for every moment......

From these hands, you and I must drink the ambrosia of life. We must keep it in our hearts, hold it in our breath. Devote your every manner to this calling, I too pledge my loyalty of our Love. What I sometimes imagined for myself, I will offer up all those prayers.

suresh.

To:readers to enhance the knowledge...

A villa was originally a Roman country house built for the upper classes. According to Pliny the Elder, there were several kinds of villas: the villa urbana, which was a country seat that could easily be reached from Rome (or another city) for a night or two, and the villa rustica, the farm-house estate, permanently occupied by the servants who had charge generally of the estate, which would centre on the villa itself, perhaps only seasonally occupied. There was the domus, a city house for the middle class, and insulae, lower class apartment buildings. Petronius Satyricon describes a wide range of Roman dwellings. There were a concentration of Imperial villas near the Bay of Naples, especially on the Isle of Capri, at Monte Circeo on the coast and at Antium (Anzio). Wealthy Romans escaped the summer heat in the hills round Rome, especially around Tibur (Tivoli) and Frascati (cf Hadrian's Villa). Cicero is said to have possessed no fewer than seven villas, the oldest of which was near Arpinum, which he inherited. Pliny the Younger had three or four, of which the example near Laurentium is the best known from his descriptions.
Roman writers refer with satisfaction to the self-sufficiency of their villas, where they drank their own wine and pressed their own oil. This was an affectation of urban aristocrats playing at being old-fashioned virtuous Roman farmers, but the economic independence of later rural villas was a symptom of the increasing economic fragmentation of the Roman empire. When complete working villas were donated to the Christian church, they served as the basis for monasteries that survived the disruptions of the Gothic War and the Lombards. An outstanding example of such a villa-turned-monastery was Monte Cassino.
Numerous Roman villas have been meticulously examined in England. Like their Italian counterparts, they were complete working agrarian societies of fields and vineyards, perhaps even tileworks or quarries, ranged round a high-status power center with its baths and gardens. The grand villa at Woodchester preserved its mosaic floors when the Anglo-Saxon parish church was built (not by chance) upon its site. Burials in the churchyard as late as the 18th century had to be punched through the intact mosaic floors. The even more palatial villa rustica at Fishbourne near Winchester was built uncharacteristically as a large open rectangle with porticos enclosing gardens that was entered through a portico. Towards the end of the 3rd century, Roman towns in Britain ceased to expand: like patricians near the centre of the empire, Roman Britons withdrew from the cities to their villas, which entered on a palatial building phase, a "golden age" of villa life. Villae rusticae are essential in the Empire's economy.
Two kinds of villa plan in Roman Britain may be characteristic of Roman villas in general. The more usual plan extended wings of rooms all opening onto a linking portico, which might be extended at right angles, even to enclose a courtyard. The other kind featured an aisled central hall like a basilica, suggesting the villa owner's magisterial role. The villa buildings were often independent structures linked by their enclosed courtyards. Timber-framed construction, carefully fitted with mortices and tenons and dowelled together, set on stone footings, were the rule, replaced by stone buildings for the important ceremonial rooms. Traces of window glass have been found as well as ironwork window grilles

A condominium, or condo, is the form of housing tenure and other real property where a specified part of a piece of real estate (usually of an apartment house) is individually owned while use of and access to common facilities in the piece such as hallways, heating system, elevators, exterior areas is executed under legal rights associated with the individual ownership and controlled by the association of owners that jointly represent ownership of the whole piece. Colloquially, the term is often used to refer to the unit itself in place of the word "apartment". A condominium may be simply defined as an "apartment" that the resident "owns" as opposed to rents.
Condominium is the legal term used in the United States and in most provinces of Canada. In Australia and the Canadian province of British Columbia it is referred to as strata title. In Quebec the term "divided co-property" (French: co-propriété divisée) is used, although the colloquial name remains 'condominium'. In England and Wales the equivalent is commonhold, a form of ownership introduced in 2004 and still uncommon in most places. In France the equivalent is called Copropriété (co-ownership), usually managed by the Syndic. In Denmark the equivalent is called andel (shared ownership), usually managed by the boligforening

The Will of being a Whore or the Conscience’s Cleaning Fair.

I am absolutely tired of always hearing the “convincing” opinion about the will of being a whore. People, we do not seem to know the great amounts of money that is invested in mass media, education and even politics, to create the absurd idea that this vast number of women “want” to be whores.

I ask myself, if there is equality, why is it that men “do not also want” to receive money for what they normally do? Are they be idiots? Or will it be that as women we are very avaricious? This idea of the “free will” washes very well the consciences, and money seems to magically end the psychological trauma of have been prostituted, not to mention what all of this is causing to the minds, everyday more sick, of men. I want to explain something about the free will of being a whore

(1): One thing is the free will of having sex. Sex is something wonderful, chemical, that comes from the animal necessity, from the pheromones, the lust, and all that physical desire of feeling someone who is driving us crazy and enjoy our pleasure in their pleasure. Therefore, what prostitution practices is not sexuality but genital encounter. The use of a comfortable container to relieve a masculine genital (not sexual) desire, NOT a feminine desire (genital or sexual), and here is where the inequality starts, because nobody would want to have sex with someone without desire, with someone whose smell does not have a single pheromone for us or that we do not feel attracted to, and then having to perform anything that we are asked to, without the right of expressing what we really like.

(2)... A man does not pay to ask if the whore would like to be fucked in her ass with his fist (I am sorry but this really happens and it’s called “Fist-Fucking”. I’m not going to put here any links of such disgusting practice but you can investigate it)

(3) : You pay to do whatever you want with that thing you paid for, that is no longer a woman but a paid commodity. Let’s not be cynical. Even if all prostituters were gentle, caring lovers: I bet despite the multi-orgasm capacity of women, none of them are having an orgasm based on the desire they have for their prostituter every time “sex” happens nor based on what they are performing on them. Who feels horny for 40 different people during a single day?

(4)... Let’s remember that the male model types are the ones who less need to pay for sex. So where does the taste for hunting, passion and erotic sensuality remain? The pleasant feeling of how much you like someone and the thousand flirting tricks you want to do to seduce that person and take her to bed? There is such amount of pleasure in this animal hunting that cannot ever be defended by those who defend prostitution. Once you give her a bill, the prostitute would have to go with whoever had paid for her. She would have to go with anyone: young, old, violent or with flaccidity. There’s nothing special in it, nothing exciting or wonderful. To be with a beautiful girl/woman to feel young or special… But wouldn’t she go with your friend also for the same money?

95)...Suddenly the humanity of sex is lost, even the animal side, because I have never seen a lion giving a hyena a piece of meet in exchange to fuck her. But let’s go back to the will of being whores. Of course there is a will of being whores. The same will of being a pedophile, of having sex with animals, there is will of thousands of million things. A lot of human beings have disorders and there are a thousand physical and psychological diseases. But saying that it is a normal behavior that women want to be whores is quite a sexist affirmation

(6)... We can put a magnifying glass to see how the prostitution world moves. We are going to see in detail the training of a prostitute, it is called "seasoning", because it is a preparation to make a woman to become a prostitute: because you are not born being a whore, as well as you are not born being a serial killer or a bank’s thief. And how do train a girl/woman to become a prostitute? It is not that these women suddenly have a chemical disorder that makes them to want sex anytime and every day with all the strangers crossing their way, and because of that it is easier to make prostitution their form of life to feed their necessity of sex and money (as it seems society and mass media made us believe). There are thousands of studies on this subject that anyone can look for on the Internet and common libraries. In order to lock up a girl/woman in the prostitution world pimps use several techniques that takes the girl/woman through the preparation or "seasoning"

(7)... The intention of this period is to break the will of the girl/woman, cracking her confidence, to make her feel lost and without knowledge of where to request help, coverall to break her desire to request aid. During this period the pimp isolates the girl/woman from her family and friends. Her identity can be changed and she can be taken from one place to another so she breaks all her previous ties and she gets the sensation that any possible tie is temporary and unstable. Then the dehumanization comes and the demoralization to destroy the self-esteem of the girl/woman and make her be full of fear to be easily manipulated by her pimps. In many cases the pimp has been her boyfriend for a while, using her love as a tool and turning the relationship in a chain of violence, fear, verbal abuses, creating the typical dynamic of domestic violence taken to a prostitution field

(8)... But the total control and power over a human being’s will is not gained just by “threats” not the self-esteem can be destroyed by “an insult”. We are speaking about innumerable amounts of abuses towards that girl/woman, and not only to be locked up, tied, without food or without being able to clean herself up. We are talking about daily beatings, humiliations, rapes by the pimp, his friends and the guys who have her locked up, multiple rapes and mistreats of all types. As if this were not enough, pimps can use drugs on her and threats against her family and loved-ones. And this is just to check on the case of common girls/women because we cannot forget that the immense majority of these people have been previously abused or/and raped at their own houses or they have a history of sexual abuse, they have familiar and economic problems, so their seasoning is part of their circle of suffering… The pimp makes a slight turn in his attitude and he “promises” to take care of the girl/woman if she does everything he says, knowing she is already at the point of trauma that he needs her to be to prostitute her at his will, knowing that she will not have the guts to escape. Let’s add that she probably does not have any ID or documents and will probably have a partial or total lack of dominium of the language, a debt contracted with her aggressors and overall a deep fear. It is not so difficult to discover the defenselessness in these people who are in a legal limb, isolated from the society, without social shelter because regularized or not, they will always have the stigma of being whores

(9)... And to avoid another page of explanations, I invite you to make your own research on the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that the devastating majority of prostitutes suffer in levels that triple the levels of the Syndrome in the survivors of military tortures on war

(10)... Perhaps is because all of this that organizations like the United Nations "consider that in the immense majority of the cases, the freely chosen prostitution does not exist"

(11)... But it is not necessary to have much intelligence to realize that the world is full of corruption and that is much more comfortable to remain with crossed arms than to do something, overall because those are things that we see far away from us, those things we do not think that can happen to us nor to our families:

(12)...But to remain silent, to accept or to promote the use and abuse of girls/women is perhaps the reason why the world has an unequal structure of base, where the dignity of our fellows is not respected, where sexuality so calmly becomes a commercial transaction without pleasure for the feminine side and where it is learned that women are disposable while men have rights to abuse that remain in time, rights to abuse that prevail over the worse form of present slavery. To try to make this to seem normal is an atrocity, but we are asleep in front of reality, because, like lambs, they have made us think that this is inevitable.

Ex-Minister Morley Quits Over Expenses
12:30am UK, Saturday May 30, 2009

Elliot Morley, who claimed £16,800 of taxpayer-funded allowances for a non-existent mortgage, will not stand for re-election as an MP.

Elliot Morley continued to claim for a mortgage that had been repaid

After a meeting with local party activists in his Scunthorpe constituency, he said: "This is my choice after discussing this with my family and constituency party officers.

"The last two weeks have been traumatic for me and I have to think of my family and my health, both of which have suffered.

"Nor do I want in any way to undermine the strong position the Labour Party has in this constituency in what will be a crucial election."

Expenses Casualties
The MPs who have said they will stand down in the wake of expenses revelations

The former environment minister was suspended by the Labour Party "until further notice" after it emerged he had claimed over £16,000 over 18 months for a mortgage that had already been paid off.

Mr Morley said he had paid the full amount back to the House of Commons and blamed the false claim on "sloppy accounting".

"If there was deliberate intent then I would have stepped down immediately," he said, adding he would hang on until the General Election as he still had work to do.

However, in an interview in Saturday's Telegraph, Conservative leader David Cameron suggested such cases should be probed by police.

He said: "...if people have actually broken the law in claiming expenses, like mortgage payment for mortgages that don’t exist, should they be subject to the full force of the law. Yes of course they should.

"I’ve said it’s not for me to call in the police but the police know what the law is and if they feel it’s been broken they should be able to look at that without fear or favour."

Phantom claims for mortgage interest have been made by at least three other MPs - David Chaytor, Ben Chapman and former Conservative frontbencher Bill Wiggin.

Despite resigning over the row, Mr Morley will still be eligible for a resettlement grant of around £50,000, with the first £30,000 tax free.

The grant, payable at the next general election, is calculated on a sliding scale according to an MP's age and their length of service in the Commons.
