Quite a coincidence that two 'miracles' should happen one after the other! A portrait of Jesus Christ bleeds and then Sai Baba opens his left eye (Click). Maybe I'm being a cynic, but how difficult is it for the owners to paint the portrait and the idol themselves? And then say things like Sai Baba moved his eyelashes? And then they collect dakshina! Wonder what will happen to that money. People are so damn intolerant and "naive" when it comes to religion that it's no point even rationalizing with them. But I guess it's not harming anyone and in fact they feel happy, so let them believe whatever they want to.

But, it is communal cases like the Tejo Mahalay, Babri Masjid that are a big problem. And now the Asharam Bapu case. The original problem was the two boys who were found murdered. But no one is bothered about that any more! Now it's a battle between the supporters and non-supporters. And now an Asaram follower stabs his landlord (read here) but the cops refuse to register the victim's complaint because it is against an Asaram follower!

Remember I cribbed about my ear infection and viral fever barely a month back? Well, the b*tch of a problem is back. And this time it's worse! Turns out it's an old throat infection that hasn't got cured and has spread to my ears. My left ear is so badly blocked that I can't hear anything from it! I SMSed a friend about it in the morning and he replies, 'Mono mix :) ' Funny!

Anyway, the funnest part is that when I move my finger anywhere on my face real close to the ear, inside my ear it sounds like I'm scratching on a turntable! I've been producing different rhythms since morning. Too bad no one else can hear this, else they'd have a sense of awe at my talent. Oh, I can play the turntable part of Linkin Park's 'One step closer to the edge'. Smug. Just that mom thinks my ear is troubling me, which is why I keep doing that. I tried to explain the turntable thing to her but I didn't like the look on her face, so I chose to shut up.

And I really feel like my naani. She is very hard of hearing but for some reason she refuses to use a hearing aid. So, we say something to her and she looks at us as if nothing happened at all. And we have to almost scream. Since morning my sis has been saying things but I can't even hear her till she repeats herself and I have to turn my right ear to her.

This is what I feared when for the first time I read the forward about Taj mahal being Tejo Mahalay. Ironically the subject line was be proud to be an Indian! I beg your pardon? Should it not be 'be proud to be a Hindu'? And yeah pride for being responsible for for more arson and rioting and violence and deaths.

The Sena is leaving no stone unturned to spread its poisonous fanatic tentacles nationwide. After all the hatred in Bombay they have already reached Agra. What BJP did for Babri Masjid, the Sena will do for Taj Mahal. How difficult is it to make fake papers just to claim that a property belongs to the Hindus?

Why do they get permissions to hold such prayers and protests, etc when the police must know what the intention is? The police is involved too, so why aren't they held answerable to the judiciary?

And the same Taj Mahal was called the pride of India when the votes for the seven wonders of the world were being called?

1) Air guitaring is replaced by air violining

2) When you hold your toothbrush like the bow

3) When you hear any song and the first thing you wonder - if you can play it on the violin... yeah, even hip hop

4) When anyone who asks you to shut it when you play becomes your enemy... mothers included.

5) When you start hearing all the three violins distinctly in a song you've been hearing for years but never realized that it had more than one violin!

6) When your violin gets to wear your jacket while you, your bag and cell phone are exposed to the rain!

7) You keep your eyes glued to the person who asks to "try" your violin (you are too polite to turn them down), to make sure he isn't handling it roughly. <br

8) You go to a pub / hotel and keep the violin on a chair while your bag is somewhere near your feet... or your friend's feet... no, sorry, almost under the next table. Who cares? My violin is right next to me!

9) You keep the wallet in your violin case because you know you'll take better care of the violin than your bag.

10) You don't trust anyone else with carrying your violin, and even if he carries you monitor each and every step of his. And should he fall down, you'd reach for the violin first.

P.S - Now that you know where I keep my wallet, no point trying to steal it. I don't keep any money there. Khee khee khee.

When the whole of India is gripped with the thought whether, after almost 30 years, the Indo-US N Deal will finally happen or what... if the UPA will get the needed trust votes on July 22, one of the Congress MPs, actor Govinda is clueless at 45 about everything!

The MP doesn't even know how the nuclear deal would benefit India or what date the trust vote is happening! His categoric reply for everything is 'I'll do what the party asks me to'. All the other party members are going frantic ensuring that he shows up on the D day.

Vayalar Ravi sounds so grateful to Govinda for so much as taking his call in spite of just having woken up from sleep!

Imagine, on July 22, Govinda does what he is known best for. Goes missing. UPA gets 271 votes. LOL.

Madhukar Sarpotdar gets only one year imprisonment. Simple imprisonment at that. And then he gets a bail. Plus he Then his sentence gets suspended till August 16 so that he can appeal in the Session Court. How's this for a big bad joke? Guess inciting riots and arson is not considered a serious crime in India, especially since it's always the politicians who are responsible.

What's more angering is the fact that the police has always been protecting him! A fortnight after he led the 5,000 strong mob during the '92 riots and gave anti Muslim speeches, the Army found his cadres carrying unlicensed arms but the ACP prevented the seizure of arms immediately. Even now the police refuse to give out evidence so that he is not arrested!

And then they don't want to arrest him immediately because it would escalate tension! How are the Sainiks any lesser than terrorists? That's the tactics terrorists use to get an arrested terrorist free!

While the need of the hour is to make pre-nuptial HIV tests compulsory, Bombay High Court thinks it's not cheating if someone doesn't disclose the fact that he or she is HIV +ve before getting married!

It very much amounts to cheating, I think. It's worse than hiding the fact that a person is already married. The man and his parents in this case didn't tell the wife that he is HIV +ve though they knew about it and now she has contracted the virus and so has her baby. That's like murdering two people and the HC says it's not cheating!

What does it matter that the original case filed was for dowry harassment? Later she did apply for a cheating case and it is nothing but cheating. The HC has been so insensitive and wrong to the woman!

Should it not be considered cheating? Lives are being jeopardized because of the nondisclosure, after all!

All those sayings about beggars not being choosers and if wishes were horses beggars would ride on don't seem to hold much meaning any more I guess. Because beggars are no longer the sorry buggers that they used to be.

Read about how rich they can be. They have properties worth 30 lakhs and 70 lakhs! That's more than my family's property put together!

Beggar Bharat Jain's family wants him to give up begging and join phamily bijness. I don't see why he would do that. He's earning quite a bit from him. Doesn't look like he'll get all conscientious about it because if he were, he'd have left begging by now.

Anyway, I think beggars can give acting a shot too. They seem to be darned good at it. To be perfectly fine and yet make such a pitiable face and cry if need be. No, actually I think they should become make-up artistes. They can go from riches to rags in a matter of seconds and be so convincing at it. Or maybe journalism, especially film journalists. It needs unscrupulous pestering and patience and yeah not feel bad when get snubbed or spoken to rudely.

But then again, begging would fetch them more money probably. So, they may as well continue. *Goes looking for a katora*

What was the purpose of yesterday's protests and bandh again? I thought it was protesting against the revocation of transfer of Amarnath Shrine land. So why did the protesters burn Muslim houses in Jammu? Firstly I think anything that has the word yatra in it has to be a communal affair, all these rath yatras and Amarnath Yatras and crap.

Seriously what have the Muslim Gurjars got to do with it? 50 people died in the violence. Also till the names VHP< Shiv Sena, BJP are involved even if it's not a communal issue, it has to turn communal.

Anyway, elections are just around the corner so all these communal problems are going to happen, whether the Marathi manoos cause, anti North Indian cause, Dera Sacha Sauda or Amarnath Shrine

Water water everywhere, nor any drop to drink! Sums up Bombay I guess. The city will be flooded because of bad infrastructure more than heavy rains, but drinking water? Where is that?

And looks like the corporators have more pressing issues to raise than tackle the water problem. And that is the ever important Marathi language!

Anyway things move at a snail's pace in the BMC. The special standing committee meeting was disrupted just because the presentation was in English and not in Marathi. Now the presentation will be made in Marathi, it will be discussed and then things will hopefully move. Though what's the guarantee for that? Your guess as good as mine.

What shocked me more was Congress and NCP were first to object to the use of English. So much for being secular parties!
