YOGA AND PRANAYAM---FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DON’T BELIEVE
Intellectual people never accept any thing blindly. If you accept anything blindly then, you are not an intellectual. I know you are an intellectual. So, if somebody will tell you to believe in the miracle of Yoga and Pranayam, you will not believe. I am not such a fool to tell you to believe in miracles. But, sometimes miracles do happen and if you don’t take benefit of them, then you are not wise, if not a fool. I myself did not believe in miracles. So, I decided to test and verify the truth by doing yoga and pranayam myself.
A SIMPLE TEST: I want to share with you what I did to test the effects of Pranayam. First of all, I listened to the program of Swami Ramdev Jee for several days on Astha channel in the morning. I don’t exactly recollect now, how I began to do it regularly. I can say only this that in the beginning, I did not do them correctly. Even today I don’t do all the Asanas and pranayams being taught by Swami Jee. I do KAPALBHANTY AND ANULOMA-VILOMA only along with some easy sukshma vyayamas. But, it did miracle to me. I had been suffering from chronic gastro-intestinal problems for several years and modern medicines used to provide some relief for sometimes, but it used to reoccur as soon as I stop medication. Had I not practiced it myself, I won’t have believed in the efficacy of yoga and pranayams.
Today, I am a disbeliever tuned believer in pranayams.

PRANAYAMA is a Sanskrit word: PRAN+ A+ AYAMA meaning: (wikipedia) Lengthening the breath.
Pran  means “life”.  As the breath sustains the “Pran” it has been named so. yamam gives the meanings: restrain, stopping, control. These activities are found while practicing it.

PRANAYAMAM discriminated into four types by Bhagvan Patanjali: BAHYA KUMBHAKA, ABHAYANTARA KUMBHAKA, KEVALA KUMBHAKA AND AKEVALA KUMBHAKA. These types are recognized in the practice according to nature of pauses (in inhale and exhale)  availed while it is practiced.

8 types have been distinguished in “HATHA-PRATIPIKA, a famous book on Hatha Yoga.

Quick inhaling and exhaling without stop is called "Kapal Bhati" which is nowadays takes place in one of Ayurvedic exercises so now it has listed in the treatment category.
Anulom and Bilom are named to inhales and exhales.

These are used to clear our physical body prior to the stage of meditation.

Your systematic practice would tend a sound health and clear mentals.

In 1992 I was diagnosed with the mildest form of diabetes. Few years b4 I was stricken with "backache". Both entirely due to my fault - too much alchohol and too much gardening in England. My back ache was temporarily cured by an OSTEOPATH. At tha time they were NOT recognised as medical practitioners in England. I then stumbled into "Yoga" after a talk on "CHAKRAS" in my local "Spritualist Chruch" by an ENGLISHMAN who knew more about Yoga and Chakras than I did - 2 my shame.

After a few years my appearance changed SO MUCH I had to get a NEW BRIT PASSPORT coz I could not be recognised by my old photo. BY Yoga and diet control I am classified as a "Non-Diabetic" and have almost eliminated my backache.

Current "YOGA" (Ram Dev, Iyengar etc) are all derived from the little known root called SHIV SAMHITA (Dialogue between Shiv and Devi Parvati). Wht R "Yogasans" now are in fact called "MUDRAS" (Maha Mudra, Yoni Mudra etc) in Shiv Samhita. The little known secret revaled by Shiv in Shiv Samhita is that "there is a yoni in the human male which is located between the ling and anus". It is my belief this is the NON-GENDER YONI in the fetus until the 16th or 32nd day of pregnancy when the "gender" of the fetus is changed according to geneticts into female or male respectively. The genderless Yoni is then "retracted" into the male (Contd-3)

(Contd-2) body same as the active lingam of the male whale is fully retracted into the body of the male whale except at the time of reproduction.

It is unfortunate that all crrent exponents of "Yoga" have attempted to "simplify" the teachings of the Shiv Samhita in order to "popularise" "Yoga" not only in Europeans but also in Indians.

The "Breathing" during "Yoga Practice" is the ESEENCE of this discipline. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should one attempt any kind of "Yoga" without a "qualified teacher". Unfortunately, I have discovered that even in University Courses on "Yoga" (Diploma/Degree) the so-called "secrets" have been excluded as noted in my Yoga Teacher in my local gym who did her yoga course in Lucknow University.

The INHALATION, HOLDING, EXHALATION of breath VARIES in "yogasans". Wrong breathing can cause more harm than benefit - especially in yogasans directed to "ABS" - lower and upper. Because of this business of the "disappeared yoni" in males the teachers ARE taught how to instruct males and females to proceed DIFFERENTLY, in certain "Yogasans" especially those which are identical REPEATS of the MUDRAS described in Shiv Samhita. In Shiv Samhita there is a note on "YONI MUDRA" but so far no one has managed to find HOW that is performed. SO BEWARE of NET instructions on YONI MUDRA.

Helo Alexia,

Welcome to the forum postings with a good trend.

Yoga focuses upon developing a healthy mind &  body, and on attaining self-awareness.

The various practices and disciplines of yoga are simple for practice  to everyone, no matter what their culture, religion  they  follow.

Everyone should promptly notice that YOGA  IS NOT WORSHIPPING.

YOGA  CONTAINS  METHOD OF PRACTICES

TO STRENGTHEN THE PHYSICAL BODY

AS WELL AS MENTAL STAMINA.

The philosophy of yoga, which originated in ancient India, includes the practical disciplines of yoga asana (physical postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana (concentration) and dhyana (meditation).

Yoga practice also involves developing awareness on a universal and personal level through the yamas and niyamas, a series of ethics and disciplines intended to cultivate living in harmony with others and in oneness with our true selves.

Everyone in this world is wrongly  thinking that yoga  belongs to Hindus  and it is religious rites.
All races in this world, all religions in this world, all ages of human can practice it as it is not particular about it.

The word "Yoga" is best used as "YOGABHYAS" (Practice of Yog(a)). A previous post refers to "Shiv Amahita". Following is quoted from that "root of Yogbahyas" : I produce from the exclusive translation of the SHIV SAMHITA into English by an acknowledged scholar. Refers to MUDRA by Shiv.

Sanskrit: "Adau poorkygaynay svadharay dhryeanmnah,
Gudmaydrantaray yonistamakunchya pravartayait." [trans: First fix the mind in the adhara by means of inhalataion. There is a yoni between the anus and the ling. Contract it and make it active.] Note the translator has RETAINED Sanskrit 'Yoni" and 'Ling' to ensure the spirit and substance of the original.

Next Sanskrit: " Brahmyonigatah dhatva KAMAN knduksanibhami,
tasyodhatay tu shikha sooshma chidravpa parma kala."
Now please note how "Brahmyonigatah dhatva KAMAN " [trans INTO ENGLISH by a scholar of repute FOR English speaking ppl thus: "Meditate on the GOD OF LOVE as residing in Brahma's yoni in the shape of a ball, looking like ten million suns and cool as ten million moons.
""Brahmyonigatah dhatva KAMAN" Brahma is called God of Love by translating the "KAMAN" (as in Kama Sutra" into LOVE." "Kama" is NOT Love - Brhama is NOT God. Draw ur own conclusions to prevent CONFUSION B4 INDULGING in Yoga and MUDRAS.

Examine the Red text. Hindu/Buddhit philosophy is ONTOLOGY (study of the being).Other major "monotheist" religions rely on THEOLOGY (study of theos (God)). Hindus are MISTAKENLY referred to a POLYTHEISTS.The Correct ID is PANTHEIST. The "Panning" extends over for yugas ending in Kaliyug when Hindus SHOULD have become MONOTHEISTS ONTOLOGICALLY, by avoiding the errors made by the "monotheists" in the belief that the "GOD of LOVE" described above ...contd

Contd (2)is APPROACHABLE (worship-Ibadat) WITHOUT  the Intercession of THIRD PARTIES - viz.Trinity by Hindus and Chrstians and ORIGINALLY the all female trinity described in the Quranic Sura Al-Najm; viz Al UZZA, AL-LAT and AL-MANAT that were later removed as necessary for INTERCESSION between the male and THEOS for reasons not relevant to this topic.

Hindu Ontology maintained that it would take 4 Yugas to understand the MONOTHEISM encapsulated in the conceptof ISHWAR. Thus Trinity-Deities- Yoabhyas-and TANTRA SHASTRA arrived at PURE MONOTHEISM by retaining MONOGAMY.  In this last yug the Tantra Shastra attempts to replace the MOORTIS by YANTRAS. Yantras use what are now called Computer Graphics and Fractals. These have been used by ALL  Hindus for ages in various ceremonies in graphic representations on floors by means of flour, rice, coloured powders etc.

So practising YOGA without understanding all this is as good as sipping MOCKTAILS by a TEETOTALLER. Just as YOGA has been commercialised in the West and now in India- charlatans in India called themselves TANTRICS and deprived not only the Hidus but humankind itself from experiencing if not undestanding PURE MONOTHEISM without any need to slaughter the "non-believers" or blowing oneself up in an attempt to gain  a glimpse of the "Ten Million Suns and Ten Million Moons" simultaneously while faliing to do so by corrupting the FEMALE SHAKTI by MALE LUST. I believe the human female is capable of experiencing the warmth of the 10million suns and the kewl of the 10 million moons without the need of any INTERCESSION from any trinity. Hence the rules of Yogaphyas for women are NOT THE SAME as those for men.
