Do you believe that your destiny/fate is mapped out for you as soon as if not before you are born?
Do you believe that you can change your destiny/fate ... some people may argue that by changing your destiny you are destined to do so!
Some people also believe that your name has a lot to do with your destiny.... Napolean apparently became ill fated after changing his name.
Palmists also believe that your whole life is mapped out in the lines and mounts etc on your palms from birth.....

Group Hug What do you think??

I want to believe all this but unfortunately my palmists and my horoscope all being telling me a lot of lies.. so obviously i am the one odd one out..

i am not losing faith though but i have cut down on wasting my money on horoscopes and on palmist though...

It feels so better when u dont know the future.. live one day at a time and make sure you do things that really makes you proud when you turn around and look at what you have done...

cheers... people

I think it's fun to get your palm read and all that...but when it comes down to believing it...i won't say that i don't believe it...but i don't let my life be influenced by anything i've heard.
I think that's the trick...once you hear something about your future....you subconsciously try to achieve it....and that could be either a good thing or a bad thing.

As far as destiny and fate go...i believe in karma, what goes around comes around...and i also believe that GOD gives us many choices and it's up to us which path we choose to take....and since GOD is all knowing...he knows what we are going to do, even before we do it.
i have a picture of a guy sitting infront of billions of monitors and watching everyones life...and i think he's having the most fun watching my life...and how silly i am Smile

i don't know much...but this is the way i see it...how do we know for sure...are we even real....or are we part of someone's dream?
Deep thoughts....

Masaala... wow that is pretty deep! I love deep thinking people, and I think you have a spark of wisdom in your depth! I think God will be very frustrated with me and wondering why I keep getting so many obvious things on my earth walk so wrong! I also believe in what goes around comes around too!! Thumb

Yes,sometimes we get to believe in our own fate or destiny(as we call it)when things either get out of hand or when they appear before as a surprise.
Infact when we think deeply into this matter we sometimes think that we r the one's who make our destiny(when we take a wrong decision at times)or at these times we may curse our fate for making us what we r today.
Is'nt there a quote by Shakespeare?
that we r mere puppets in the hands of God.
Sometimes we satisfy ourselves saying "This is predestined. This is my fate"

Personally , I think palmistry is Smart Alecs' way of gettin to hold

a babe's hand! There wuz this boy in med skool and he read

women's palms far more often than he took the pulse.

BTW,I read data on my PALMs everyday, guess that maketh me a PALMist(TM)!

Butt seriously...

I believe in an analogy Lobsang Rampa gave in one uf his many books...

The numerologic profile, the sunny and the moon signs etc are like

a machine's parameters . They're earned over several

lifetimes ,as 'karma' of certain kinds are repeatedly committed,

those turn into one's enduring habits and traits. Those are what we

know to be one's palmar-landscapes (and lunar positions) ,etc.

Like with a car, or any machine , there's a certain 'pick-up'

rate, innate strengths, and several drawbacks, humans also have

traits that can be read with these tools. But that dont mean that

every machine performs just as well,or as bad, as others in its

batch! One can, with sincere efforts, overcome the effect of past-

karma (habits) in this one lifetime. One oughtta try and 'break the

mould' that is his/her astro, etc profile. That's my view and I

practice it everyday!

Risha,

don't be so hard on yourself....god wants us to do wrong so that we think of him more often...the key is to think about him even as we are doing good...(i have talks with the big guy every so often...i'll let you know when he answers back) Wink

i don't like the concept that 'everything is planned' ...that you actually have no control over your life, even when it seems you've a 'free will' to make your own decisions, but the cause and its effect is your 'destiny', which was pre-determined before your birth. then again, another question arises, you having 'free will' ...is a part of the same game?! now when the whole existance is inter-dependent & conditioned how can the will be free?! is'nt this 'destiny' what people call and believe in?! basically this means that, you evidently have no control over your life ...this kind of sucks! we go through lives, set goals for ourselves, work hard to achieve it, when it happens, its fate!?!?

i don't believe i'm a puppet of my destiny nor there is someone out there plotting everything. if there is a plan set, who set it? ALMIGHTY (so called GOD)? ...then should'nt the plan be perfect & flawless. why do some plans engage in ending life in suicide, child dying before being welcomed to this world, a born blind child brought to life? fate brought them to kill (lose eyesight of) a child who's just out of his/ her mother's womb?! or its destiny? i don't buy it!! or it's 'karma' of the newly born child who is yet to develop a concience?! quite not possible ...so what should be the reason? only one i can think about is his 'bad karma' before birth or 'bad karma' of their parents or both reasons?!

now if this somewhat proves existance of eternal life, would'nt s/he burn in hell or pay in past life itself, instead of coming back to this world disabled/ dead?!

fate is an illusion, future is uncertain, atleast for now, but when it happens, is set in a rock.

however, i do believe that people live for a reason, people are in your life for a reason and they play a role in your life whether small or big. i believe that every action has a reaction and things happen for a reason. in the end, they're inevitable b/c we die, and it does'nt matter anymore to us. while we're here i come to the conclusion that - in life we learn. why? noone really knows. we learn, we pass our knowledge & wisdom to others who live, and they pass on similarly and so on and so forth.

i appologize i have gotten off-track.

I wont say that its all together a planned journey-FATE or destiny is somethuing which is a result of a cause & effect relationship, like Bornbad said.
I f everythin is planned y the hell r v here??
If God knows whatz gonna happen next & which is r so called destiny, do u think we'd have been here?Noways

I think v r here jus to perform like they do on stage, v r the actors & God's the judge, tho i really don believe in God.
But yeah!..i believe very strongly in myself & that i can change my Karmas & the destined fate, coz its all in our hands.

I don wanna get into details of how..so better if i stop here..
C ya!..

I figured that your query actually covers two aspects, both of which we have more or less heard of. More importantly Risha, we havent heard your opinion on this.
Back to the topic, I would really break this down into two before I attempt to talk about my opinion.
There is this question on whether we believe in fate or destiny - that our lives are mapped at some predetermined period , before or after we are born.
There is also the question as to whether this destiny is reflected in human readable form, like the ridges on your palm, the day we were born, the color of the moon as seen from your window.
Finally , there is this question about whether any human can actually interpret these "human readable" signs and make an accurate reading.
(That was actually three question, but then again.. )

To answer the first question, I know that there is no such thing as fate or destiny. I use the word, know rather than something loose as believe, because I have seen NO evidence so far that something is destined. Fate and destiny are human explanations for things that we really cannot find anyother explanation. Destiny is also the core behind the human emotion of trying to give ourselves a "reason" to be here. I am appalled that most people who believe in destiny always do so in hindsight and see nothing flawed with the belief. "I-told-you-so" - well I could wager my earnings that I can find about 20 other people who would have "told-me-so" otherwise.

More in the next messag

Now that I know that there is no predetermined destiny, it more or less wipes out having to answer the other questions Winky

However,
It becomes inevitable that to support our notion of destiny, purpose, reason-we-are-here, that we find something like a "sign" to help us with the belief; much like the same reason we invented religion.
And to me , none of the ridges on my palm, the position of a rock floating in space, the position of a human invented machine with two arms that tell you the "time" can determine what I am going to be doing in the next 10 years.
One point of clarification on the rock floating in space. If it were a meteor I would be worried because it has a good chance of determining what I would do in the next 10 years Very Happy

Good anology. But if I were to base my opinions on an anology, I would have to say that I am a little disappointed that the author did not say what in our life is parallel to the machine characteristics and how it came about to be so. Dont tell me, that is the way it is, because it doesnt cut it.
Okay, I understand that you really dont have to convince me, but if I wouldnt base my life on such a rough cut partial anology

hi all..i believe in destiny.i do believe tht our lives have been mapped out in a certain way by the almighty.but i am also of the strong opinion tht we have been given the power/choice to change tht.we come across various choices in life.how and wht we choose.. bring the changes in what has been written out for us.and yes.."karma" is what matters and what you give..does come back to you one way or the other.cheers!
