James Douglas Morrison (December 8, 1943—July 3, 1971) was an American poet, singer, songwriter, writer, and film director. He is best known as the lead singer and lyricist of The Doors, and is widely considered to be one of the most charismatic frontmen in rock music history.[1] He was also the author of several books of poetry,[1] and the director of a documentary and short film.
