 Happy 58 years of being a glorious Republic!

Happy Republic Day! 26 January 1950, the day those three words got an identity in India – Equality. Justice. Liberty. The day we said goodbye to British dominion and became a Republic, giving ourselves our own Constitution, assuring every Indian Equality, Justice and Liberty. King George VI stepped down as the King and Dr Rajendra Prasad became the first President of Independent India

Since then, India has proudly held her head high as a sovereign, the most diverse yet unified nation. This day as the tricolor is hoisted, let us feel proud of the glory of being free. Let’s take pride in our splendor and strength and let’s thank the martyrs who sacrificed their lives so that we all could be free.

Did you know that 26 January was initially supposed to be India’s Independence Day? This was Mahatma Gandhi’s symbolic act during the British Raj. But, well, since 15th of August was declared the Independence Day, the Constitution was adopted on January 26 to revoke the significance of all Indians breaking free from the British rule.

This is the day to celebrate freedom and brotherhood!

Jai Hind and Happy Republic Day!

THE WORDS THAT GIVE US STRENGTH AS INDIANS - OUR GLORIOUS PREAMBLE, framed by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar

WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;
LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;
EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;
And to promote among them all
FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;
IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.
