The girl in pink dress

I had gone for midnight mass for Christmas. It was cold but because of the warm festive atmosphere no one felt the cold everyone was dressed in their best dresses especially the teenagers' and they were also the most conscious lot ,there was a young girl sitting dressed in a pretty pink dress, her face and hair done up nicely. She was watching the mass ceremony and seemed to enjoy every moment of it.
when the mass got over everyone started greeting each other the teenagers were the most excited lot I could help noticing the trembly smile on the face of the girl in pink dress.She was just sitting and watching her age group wishing each other. Her expression seemed to say please include me in your celebrations.Just look at me I would love to be told that I am looking nice
I was unable to understand why she is not joining them. But after sometime her mother came and handed her crutches which were kept under her seat. She stood up with her mothers' help and slowly left the church trying to draw as little attention as she could towards herself All the festivities faded and till this day I am able to recall her nervous smile.
