When dreams mess up with reality...Part 1

January first is a great day in every ones life. Yesterday New Year celebrations were on the peak level. For me January 1st not only beginning of the new year, it indicates arrival of Abhi into my life. We got married last year. Hence, yesterday was the first wedding anniversary for us. As I am very sweet girl I didn’t ask him any function, just asked him to take me for a dinner. He nodded his head with smiles and gave a warm kiss on my forehead while leaving for office.

After finishing lunch, read a romantic novel for some time, felt bored as it was a routine love story, no exciting incidents in it. OK…started thinking of my hero Abhi. Apart from one or two main complaints I am happy with Abhi. He is a six feet, fair and handsome software engineer in project leader level, drawing six digit salary. Duplex apartment with full of modern furniture, a middle aged woman (Mangamma) servant cooks whatever I and Abhi prefer, so no need to worry about any thing. Every thing is available except Abhi. In the initial days of married life I had high respect towards his software job and his responsibilities. But, later I realized that I made a blunder in marrying a software engineer. He starts from home at 9 AM and returns after 11PM. Before 9 AM I am usually busy in preparations of his breakfast, lunch pack, black tea in a flask etc. After 11 PM, even I am ready, he falls on the bed like a log. Now you tell me…where is the time for us to romance? What is the use of reading Mills and Boon’s novels if hero is not available?

Huh…I came out of those every day thoughts. Checked the sari once again which I decided to wear for dinner. Oh…I didn’t tell you one thing. Its really a good news. In our Hyderabad, ten days back, Chandana Brothers cloth shop people announced Bumper draw. You know first prize is 10 lakh worth diamond necklace. Wow…what an opportunity. They announced that they take draw on January first. Second prize is Santro car, third prize 56 inches LCD flat TV and so many other prizes. Who cares all these prizes, I have at home except that first prize of 10 lakh worth diamond necklace. They have placed its photo also. They said women are just like red roses, they should be decorated with diamond necklaces. I felt as if that diamond necklace was saying Hello to me. Entry to that contest was buying cloths worth ten thousand rupees. I took cloths for me and for Abhi too. While taking entry pass, I asked the sales man “It was made my Tanishk jewelers. Isn’t it?” He looked at me with a surprise and said “Madam, you are genious. How could you identify it? Yes, it was made by Tanishk only.” I gave a winning smile because I know I can estimate everything in a perfect way. This is the indication, I have plenty of chances of getting the first prize.

Now don’t ask me about Abhi’s level to present me a diamond necklace. Six months back on Dasara festival, Abhi told me to ask for a gift. As I am very sweet girl, I never create any problem to Abhi by asking so many gifts. I just asked him diamond necklace. He smiled and on the next day he brought a diamond necklace worth Rs. 25, 000/-. To tell you the truth, I didn’t get any impression on that necklace, those American diamonds are of size less than 1mm radius. But, as I am the good girl, I didn’t say any thing, showed him my happy face and prepared Hyderabad Biryani as a special dish. Now after so many months, I got the opportunity to wear the diamond necklace which I dreamt of.

Oops, it became 5 PM. Abhi may come at any time. I took shower very quickly and dressed up in a way Abhi likes. Mangamma gave a compliment “Amma…you are just looking like our heroine Sridevi”. By that time it became 7 PM. Started waiting for Abhi. After half an hour, started reading the news paper. In that I saw the ad of Chandana Brothers. Once again tension started in me. On January 1st at 12 PM, they will take the draw at Mumbai, the head quarters of that shop. No doubt…I will win it and wear it and proudly show it to all neighbors. It became 10 PM, Mangamma went to servant room to sleep. This Abhi didn’t come. He never kept his promises. Always comes home late. Then why he has married me? With those painful thoughts I reached bed.

At 11PM Abhi came and said thousands times sorry. I got so much angry and yelled “you could have informed me about your urgent meeting at least over phone”. Abhi’s face became pale. “Sneha…I tried your cell several times”. You didn’t answer my call. “what?” now I entered into dilemma. Then he took out my phone and shown, it was kept in mute. OMG…by mistake I pressed mute it seems. So, no chance of firing at him.

Note: Wait for Part 2 to read the hilarious part of the story.
