Don't get hoaxed.. few tips...

To all my fellow fropperites,

- A Mermaid in Chennai Museum

- A burnt baby called Alexandra

- The Kerala boy who invented operating systems that was 4-5 times faster than Windows and refused to sell it to Bill Gates.

- Vaidyaraj with 4600 Carat of Diamond stonoe who refuses to sell it.

- Oil deposits in Thar desert for next 30 years

- Einstein's theory disproved..

We all happily recieve these emails read (sometimes dont' even read) and then faithfully forward to all in the address book.

All the above all just hoaxes and these are just a few samples.

Few tips for finding out if such forward you received is a hoax or not:

1. Ask Saint Google. He will tell you whether the information you received is true or not. Search for the key words and if you get listed only all the world's popular blog websites (blogspot, yahoo 360, MY space, Fropper, Sulekha wordpress - these are in general circulating such hoaxes to the maximum extent).

2. While searching for key words, try to look for relevance to the association / field / organization etc. Example: If it is Oil deposits ONGC should be somewhere in the vicinity. If it is science, look for articles in scientific magazines.

3. Look for newspaper webesites that give you the information as a news article. (Not as a feature or a story). Any genuine story, newspaper websites will be the first to publish and will have it on the net always.

4. Look who is talking - Look for the originator of the message. If after rolling that scroll-wheel for 126 seconds, you see some funny name or no name as the originator of the message, be sure its a hoax.

5. There is a website Hoaxslayer.com, who are really striving hard to bust all hoaxes on the net, but I am sure they are just overwhelmed by the way it is spreading.

Lemme tell ya a lil secret about the Five Stars...
If you press the five star, it adds one 'five star' to all the previous stars, takes the average and posts it up as the STAR RATING.
So, it doesn't mean your 5 stars are not counted. But, it needs more 5 stars to get the average to 5 star.
You might have noticed, if you were the first to give 5 star, it shows 5 stars instantly.

If it is already 5 stars and you press 5 star too, it will show 5 stars..

Hope it clarifies..!!!
