Pulp Fiction - a joke from it
I was told all action movies with the gory blood scenes and all the hard core action sprung from Pulp Fiction. I am not so sure how much of that is true... but it was a movie worth watching. There was this one scene which my sis does a good impression of and it goes like this.
Uma Thurman just recovers from a bad drug dosage, and John Travolta drops her home. She supposedly was a one-time actress of a show in the movie, before marrying gansta boss Ving Rhames. She talks of this one joke that her showmates did, and at the end of that night, when Travolta drops her home, she tells this is the most monotonous voice you can ever think of, more monotonous than a physics lecture. This is the joke:
"Papa tomato and mama tomato and baby tomato are taking a walk. Baby tomato is being very slow coz its small, and papa tomato loses his patience. He walks upto baby tomato, squishes it and says "catch up" [you are suppposed to pronounce it like "ketchup"]."
Get it - catch up - ketchup? Well, in the movie she says this whole joke so fast and since her expression is so not funny, and thanks to the seriousness of the situation before, Travolta doesnt laugh and so do you. But after the end of the movie, my sis started saying this joke over and over again and then it was funny.... hehe.. ketchup-catch up... which reminds me to tell you - watch the movie, if you havent already.
