Indian Hockey team wins a silver medal

The IPL madness continues. Poeple are so jobless that they are get excited about an SMS that Shah Rukh Khan sent to 'his boys' and the BCCI not being very amused about it. I think two lines are more than enough to talk about IPL.

The Indian Hockey team has come back with a silver medal from Malaysia, where they played the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey tournament. Just two months ago the team failed at the Santiago Olympic qualifiers and now they have come back with a silver medal.

Read this nice article on the hockey team. There are some points that consolidate the fact that hockey is any day a more sorted game than cricket!

"As Sardara Singh, captain of the present team, went on record to say after the Santiago failure that it was the players who failed in the all-important final in the Olympic qualifier and he saw no point in blaming this or that official. Sardara, a good player that he undoubtedly is, claimed no special credit even to his own role as captain. He was a player like all the rest of the squad."

Anyway, like the article says, hope the sports ministry is really laying the 40 more synthetic turf pitches. But then I think the remuneration and gear would be equally important to draw young talent.

Yes... I too sincerely hope that Indian crazy crowd gets up on their feet and at least gives a couple of claps (if not crores), to the young team, who turned things around.
Remember when India got knocked out in the Prelims of the World Cup cricket, the media made sure that Indeeyans just dust off the Shyte and gets up and running. Yes. Any let down would cost crores of Rupees loss to the BCCI and the lots.
But, when India chickened out of Olympics, everyone were up and looking for scapegoats and mourning the 'death' of Hockey.
Thats the difference, between any Sports and the madness called 'Cricket', in India..
