 Auntyji...

Inspiration : Manjul Bajaj

I'm an aunty in utter, bitter agony
No, not an 'aunt' as in 'masi' , dear me !
That happened a long time ago, you see
When my siblings sired their sweet progeny
But now I'm the aunty for all and sundry
The sixty-plus 'sabziwalla' and the fifty-plus 'kamwalli'
The old rickshaw driver and the young newspaper laddie
All have bestowed aunty-hood on me
In a merry unison, rather heartily !

Is it the first wisp of grey hair
That I hide with so much care ?
Or is it my widening waistline
Oh Lord of mine ?
Or is it just my DNA thingy ?
A code that goes zingy :
"Past first blush of youth equals Aunty". QED !

Shucks ! I'm on sticky grounds
If I protest too much with frowns,
Talks of my age will then surely do the rounds
Like some thirsty blood-hounds

On my jeans and crop tops, I do vow
Dressing hasn't helped me somehow
So, next I eyed a pretty red miniskirt
But gave up after a heart-stopping alert
For a thought had just crossed my mind
Of the most alarming kind
What if these folks start getting catty
And call me instead the 'miniskirt-wali aunty' ?

Now I'm scandalously scared stiff
For on the horizon a new name I sniff
Sigh ! I've finally given up
You see, I don't want a mix-up
Heck, let them blast me with an Auntyji
Rather That, than the blasted moniker 'Mataji' !

Wonderful indeed, not your Aunthood but this short poem! But take heart, anybody with grey hair is called an uncle or an aunty these days! And many have them even when young!

hey, this is extremely funny...i agree that aunthood is a title easily gets bestowed up..and one tends to have a lots of mood swings and turn experimental...nice to see that u had been taking all the things sportingly and could narrate it humourously...thx sazzy for sharing and thx to u for bringing smiles on our faces.
