 Thursday - June 19, 2008

Well, it's late and I'm still up.  However, I will be retiring shortly.

The baby has been sick since Monday.  I left the office a bit early today and took her to the doctor.  At my office, there is a medical clinic which is free of charge to employees and their dependants, which is an added bonus.  Plus, a lot of prescription medicines are also available free of charge.  So, it saves a lot of time and money for employess with children.

Anyway, as a precaution, the doctor put her on zithromax.  SHe could have been exposed to strep, so he went ahead and put her on this antibiodic.  I hope she starts feeling better soon because I hate it when the kids are under the weather.  It makes me feel bad that I cannot do anything to help them feel better.  I just feel so helpless.

Despite the fact that she is sick, the day went well otherwise.  I was a little bummed because my lettuce plant is starting to wilt.  :(  I water it every other day, but lettuce really is more of a spring/fall type crop.  I watered it again tonight and the leaves started to plump already.

Since I've given up on being able to go to the gym on a regular basis due to having a large number of children - other then my own - to attend to in the evening, I've been walking.  I took the baby for a stroll on her stroll and stride bike today.  Basically, this is like a bike that she sits on and I push.  She hates the stroller, so it gives her more of a 'big girl' feel.

The cherry tree is in full bloom so I picked some cherries today for about an hour tonight.  Some people at the office are interested in having some cherries, so I picked them as opposed to them going to waste.  I would have picked them for longer but a lof of the cherries are on braches that I can't reach without a ladder.  And me and ladders just don't mix!

Besides tending to the plants, I took the kids out to lunch before I took Maya to the doctor.  There were a total of 4 kids with me, but it was fun.  Tonight, I went to Rural King with Mom.  I picked up a few daisys and a few other odds and ends.

Abhi is in Ohio on a job interview.  He's tired of the demands of being a retail pharmacist and wants something a bit more academic.  He sent me a text today and I guess he'll be back sometime next week.

Hopefully, Maya will be feeling better tomorrow.  I would like to take the kids to the Summer Movies at Mesker which starts tomorrow night.  The feature is Horton Hears a Who.  With the cost of gas and everything else, doing something inexpensive and fun is even more worthwhile then even before.

The farmers market is tomorrow, but I have a meeting in the late morning and if you don't arrive at that place at the right time, it's like a total madhouse!  I would like to make some potato salad and pick up some corn.  The potatoes are like $1 for 5 pounds and corn is pretty inexpensive also.  and the produce are fresh!

It's time for me to drift off into a nice sleep before workie  : (  Maybe I'll write another installment tomorrow.
