No leaders have time for Manekshaw - How more shameful we can be...???

How more shameful our Politicos and Miliraty top brass can be..?

Just one Minister attends the State Funeral of the Greatest Army Chief we ever had, Sam Bahadur ManekShaw.. The Eternal Hero of Indian Army. The idol we all looked up and learnt patriotism, courage, commitment to the nation and selflessness...

KLIK here to read the news..

His funeral, Prime Minister, President, Army Chiefs and other dignitaries should have attended to honor the 'last journey of the great partiot and soldier'...

These are the words of a brigadier, and I couldn't say any more...
"We, as a nation, simply don’t respect or remember our heroes. Cricketing ones are honoured even after 25 years of winning a world cup, soldiering ones are forgotten promptly after the war is over. The nation turns to the armed forces only in times of emergency"

There is a limit to being shameful and we Indians, right from Politicans down to the military personnel, have exceeded the limit by light-years...

"Meraa Bharat Ka Mahaa Apmaan..."

agree with nova...and not surprising at all....politicians have nothing to do with dignity and shame anymore...they are morons, so hardly matter to them abt all these things, they would only flock to add to the grandeur of places where they can earn publicity and money...

very true KB sir! Our politicians have all the time in the world to attend cricket matches, pg3 events, and even appear on c-grade reality shows but no time for such "indignificant" funerals. I don't think that they themselves deserve any honor if they happen to die in office...

Agree with you Nova... Its good in one way that the political dirt didn't spoil the solemn ceremony of the departed soul...

Oh, well, F M Sam wasn't a cricketing or Bollywood legend. Why would these people care? In a way it's good. Politicos' dirty presence would only have polluted the aura of his final rites.

I wouldn't be surprised if no one would even remember him on his birth or death anniversary!

well.. its a really sad state that our nation is in today.... that it's so called leaders dont care a fig about the people who lead their army, and the soldiers who give up their lives, so that there is peace and prosperity in the country.
The army chief General Deepak Kapoor has just returned from a State visit to Russia on the 29th evening... but the rest of them were all in delhi when the Field marshall reached his heavenly abode.
But in our country we remember only the 'rising sun'... or else only that person who is of immediate help to us... let there be another incursion like Kargil and see all the false patriots crawling out of the woodwork..!!

Indeed, I am so ashamed of the sad state we are in and the sad state this country is heading for. When I try to awaken people to this situation, I only end up being called a pessimist. Our priorities are simply skewed.
