Art...!

Art is a poem without words.  It's either easy or impossible.
It depends little on the object, much on the mood, in art....!

In art, as in love, instinct is enough.   The work of art is the exaggeration of an idea.
Art is not for the cultivated taste.  It is to cultivate taste...!

There is no 'must' in art, because art is free.
Without tradition, art is a flock of sheep without a shepherd.  Without innovation, it is a corpse.
Art is the only thing that can go on mattering once it has stopped hurting.

The more minimal the art, the more maximum the explanation.
In art, there are tears that do often lie too deep for thoughts.
We must never forget that art is not a form of propaganda; 
it is a form of truth.

Art changes all the time, but it never 'improves'.  It may go down or up, but it never improves as technology and medicine improve.
Art does not reproduce the visible; rather it makes visible.

Art is not a mirror to reflect the world, but a hammer with which to shape it.
Art is not an end in itself, but a means of addressing humanity.
Art is indeed not the bread but the wine of life....!

Art distills sensation and embodies it with enhanced meaning in memorable form - or else it is not art.
When the age of mechanical reproduction separated art from the basis in cult, the semblance of its autonomy disappeared forever.
What is more natural in a democratic age than that we should begin to measure the stature of a work of art  - especially of a painting - by how widely and how well it is reproduced...?

Art is a marriage of the conscious and the unconscious.
The object of art is to give life a shape.
Art, like life, should be free, since both are experimental.

Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.
Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable.

Art has enemy called ignorance....!!!  Sometimes art is a lie that makes us realize the truth.
Art raises its head where creeds relax.

Not everything has a name.  Some things lead us into a realm beyond words.... By means of art we are sometimes send - dimly, briefly - revelations unattainable by reason.
Contemporary art, no matter how much it has defined itself by a taste for negation, can still be analyzed as a set of assertions of a formal kind.

Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.
Art imitates Nature in this; not to dare is to dwindly

One puts into one's art what one has not been capable of putting into one's existence.  It is because he was unhappy that God created the world.

All art constantly aspires towards the condition of music.

Great art is as irrational as great music.  It is mad with its own loveliness.
