 A TOUGH DAY 11th AUG 08

TOUGH Day

Today 11th Aug 2008, was a very tough day for me.. It was as if I'm fighting in KARGIL war.

6.00 AM: Wake UP... Decided to clean and mop the floor on my own... what with this mess of kamwali bai's. They come and go at their whims and fancies. Got digusted and removed both of them yesterday. And the real motivation was an article in Times of INDIA as per which their are families who do all the jobs on their own and PLUS build up their body by free excercise.

Now that was a heck of a motivation.... Imagine i've not been into gym for allmost 2 years after my wife's disease set in and had begin to develop a paunch lately. The enjoyment of working and doing excercise(free of cost) was a lovely idea... which i couldn't resist.

So coming to cleaning and mopping... Cleaning part with broomstick was fun... but then when i came to mopping i realised I could no longer sit down..... OMG I had become OLD....or my body was too rigid to take it in. I tried sitting in various angels but then mopping couldn't be done, so finally I came to the DOG's four legged position and began to mop. It was a hell of an exercise... I took 35 minutes to do a job which our kaamwali used to do in FLASH 3 minutes.

Now I'm in a confusion, should i stick to this schedule..I'm sure as days go by, body will become more flexible and may be I can finish the task in 5 minutes. Or should I go in for MODERN GADGETS and dump this system of sitting on the floor and mopping and loose all the benefits of doing excercise.....

Sometimes, no why sometimes..... ALLWAYS all of you friends on fropper have helped me.... so please advice me what should I do......

Finally made Roti's while trying to make sabji.. Once Roti's began to burn when I'm concentrating on sabji.... and then sabji began to burn when I'm concentrating on making ROTI... and children's shouting at the peak of their volume.. It's becoming Late PAAPU... elder one began to call me thus.. cos Mahatma Gandhi used to call his DAD thus... and the small one also followed and calls me PAAPU allways..

Well Ten minutes to leave for school and still TIFFIN is not packed, water bottle isn't filled, breakfast is not ready, Diary is not signed, Dress in not ironed, Bag is not packed, Shoe isn't polished. Tie isn't ready.... whew what more.............. The toughest JOB in the world... both daughter's Hairs are not combed..... I feel this as the tough job cos inspite of learning it from 3 ladies, still I haven't learned the trade SECRET. Somehow I feel this job is only meant for ladies.

Well now for solutions.. Phoned and called my driver... asked him to fill water bottle and Iron dress. Put the dress on them farst while driver was cooking and send them to nieghbour's house to TIE their hairs. Meanwhile Diary was signed, Tiffin was packed and breakfast was ready....

They came back and packed their BAGS and rushed to the car carrying their Breakfast.... somehow in this mess the shoe couldn't get polished.....

But it was real FUN and a Challenge at that and we made it to school 5 minutes before the bell RANG.....

A day tougher than the LIFE of warriors in KARGIL.....

delightful post! i think the first thing you should do is get your kids to share some of the chores particularly those related to dressing grooming and school.

my daughter is currently (for many months now actually) struggling with combing and tying her hair! this one activity takes up almost a third of the time she takes to be ready from the moment she wakes up. shes tried repeatedly to convice us to get her hair cut real short! but the sense of achievement she now has when she gets the parting right and her hair in place and the approval of her parents is immense ...never mind the many days when her appearance was less than perfect because she would insist on doing it herself even when late and we didnt have the heart to point out that all wasnt quite ok!

cheers!

Hello! PK! Please know that you are a wonderful Father and a lovable individual too! Hats off to you. As for your One tough Day it doesn't matter at all! After all you finally said you enjoyed it and it was challenging! That is the right attitude. Most of the working women have these TOUGH days quite often! Like Khushi said it is difficult being 2 in 1 especially for men. Please don't mind me saying so. Well. You need to have a second line support system. Secondly it is time, like Sneha said, to choose a life partner, who can be ur soulmate ready to care and share! Good Luck! It is your life! Think! Be happy!

Hey,practice makes perfect In no time you will be a pro. One question thought,do you have a house or a mansion that takes 35 minutes to sweep and mop the floor.

Catch 22 situation. To care of children yourself OR to get help of someone who can take care of them and take good care of you as a bonus.Think about it
