PATRIOTISM IS A HABIT !!!!!!!!

 
                   Two   die  due  to  "Chakka  Jam"         

NEW DELHI/KANPUR Aug13 (UNI) 
A  Kanpur  youth and another  heart  patient lost  their  lives during  the two-hour-long-nation-wide 'Chakka Jam" called  by  the  BJP and  the  VHP.

Twenty  two  year  old Santosh  suffered burns  after coming  in  contact with a  live  wire in Kanpur and  succumbed on  way to  hospital as  the  people who  were  taking  him  there got  stuck  in  the  'Chakka  Jam '

A report  from Ambala said a 70  year  old villager who  suffered  a heart  attack was  also  stuck  up on  his  way  to  hospital by  the  "Chakka  Jam  "..............and  so on . 


Now  ladies  / gentlemen   does  this  news  item ring  any  bell in your  heart ,  soul  and  mind  ?? Does  this small  and  trivial  looking happening , mere two  deaths of unknown  people  in  some  obscure  corner of our vast  country , make  any  sense ? 

Well it  does  to  me  !  We  are  celebrating  our independence  day season , yeah season , with  so  much  fervor  and  resolutions ,  we  are  talking  of patriotism , Indianness , achievements , glories  and  what  not , but  do we really  believe  in and practice  what  we  say ?

The  above  mentioned  news  item  proves amply  the  fact  that  we  are only  seasonal  patriots  and not  patriots  by  habit ! We know how  to  demonstrate , make  dharna , and enjoy  the  right  to Bandh  and  Chakka Jam but  what  about  the  duties  which  go  with  them ? What  about  the  rights  of others ? Are  we  conscious  about  them ? 

NO NO NO !!!!!!!

Did  Santosh  and  that  old  man not have  the  right  to  live  and proper medical  care ? If they  had what  did  the so  called activists  and  champions of religious  rights do to honour that ?? Nothing !! These  two  lives  were  lost  only  because  no one  had the time  and the will to care  for  others  rights ! Is it  show  of  patriotism ? NO NO NO !!!!

Our  patriotism  is limited  only  to some  fixed  days  15th Aug , 26th Jan and some  other dates ! We hoist  flag , write  big  blogs and  articles in news  papers , deliver long  speeches and then forget about  it ! So far and only  so  much  as a patriot!!

The bloggers  here who never  tire to write so  many  news  items  about  the  success  stories every  hour , to  ride  the glory  of  success of  others,  didnt  even  care to  write  a single  line  to the  death  of these two  unsung  men ?????

WHY WHY WHY ??????

Because  ladies  and  gentlemen  we  are  not  patriots  by  habit !W E  are  patriots  only  during  the patriotic  seasons  !!
WE are symbolic  patriots , limited  to certain acts  and on certain days . Not  patriots  everyday in our  each  and  every act !

We  always  talk   about  facilities  and money  in  sports to be  insufficient to produce  Olympic  champions . But  do you think  this  is  the  only  reason ?? The  glaring  example  of the failure of  Rajaybardhan Singh Rathor is  before  us !He won  silver  medal  in shooting in last  Olympics . Ladies  and  gentemen in this  Olympics  he  didnt  even  make it to  the  final 10 ! 

Do you think he  lacked  facilties  and equipments ? He had  the  same facilities  and  equipments which  made  him  to  win  the  silver , with  the  same  facilities  and  more  experience he  couldnt  make it to last  ten . Why ?? 

Because we are seasonal  patriots ! We joined  the band wagon , the  whole  country joined  the  band  wagon  in spoiling  him, to  show  our  patriotism,in , praising him and making  him rise  so  high high in a pedestal , when  he  won  the  silver  medal, that  he  lost  his  focus at the  job  at  hand  now !!!!!

In this  Independence  day my  friends , I appeal  to  you all please  dont  ask  what country can do for  you , ask  what you can do for  the  country ! 

Be  patriotic  by habit , and imagine if  we have 1 billion patriots  , what  can not  be  achieved ???
