Saif Ali Khan and Lara Dutta get Rajiv Gandhi Award!

So far I used to think Shah Rukh Khan getting awards after awards indiscriminately was stupid, but this sure takes the cake along with the bakery! Saif Ali Khan and Lara Dutta get Rajiv Gandhi Award for their contribution to Indian cinema? Saif is still alright because of the way he changed the face of his career and has given many hits.

But Lara Dutta? Pray what is her 'contribution' to Indian cinema? Are we talking about the number of flops she has contributed? Or all the item numbers? Damn absurd, man!

Then she says She said, "I have grown watching Rajiv Ji and have always admired him for his ideologies and vision. It's a great achievement to receive an award by his name." Hmm... might have been interesting to ask her what his vision and ideology were!

And then Rakhi Sawant performs! The image doesn't quite gel! Shrug

That is India for you. It is only the unqualified, incompetent and undeserving who get all the accolades. More than their contribution to Indian cinema, Indian cinema has contributed to their stuffing their pockets with the moolah. Great post.
