LOVING AND LIVING

It  had  been  more  than  two  months of  Aditya  and Savitri's  living  together . These  two  months  had  wings  of dreams , happiness , joy and  all the pleasures  of togetherness which  was a completely  out  of the world  experience  for  both  of  them .They  used  to  go  to their  work  places  together , used  to  meet at  the  same  place  at  the  end  of  the day !When  they  used  to  meet  in  the evening  ,  their wanting  of each  other  was  a sight  to  see ! As  if  eight  hours of being  away  from each  other  was too much ! 

They  were so eager to  share their experiences of  the  day , to  tell each  other their small pleasures and frustrations , ups  and  downs,  anything  and everything which  concerned  them ! They laughed at  the pleasures and become  sad  with  the  frustrations ! There was  nothing which they didnt  share . 

After they had  their fill of talking  they used to go  to the  restaurant of  the  mall and  have  their dinner !Sometimes they used  to  go to the  sea beach  the  most  favourite  place  for Savi . 

 There was  a  very  secluded place on  the beach , having  some  rocks .The waves  lashed  the  rocks and  the mist  like water droplets were  splashed  all around.Adi and  Savi  used  to  sit on  a  rock nearby at a  safe  distance and  soaked  themselves for  hours  together by  the  mist and  their  love  for  each other ! 

It  was  a  Saturday . For  the last two  three  days Adi  noticed  that Savi was a bit  restless . She  was not  her usual chirpy  and cheerful  self .He  thought  he  would  ask  her  but in the  hum-bug  of  the  daily  routine he  used  to forget .To  day  being  Saturday  and  a holiday  for  both  he  decided to  ask her  about  her  mood  swing  .

They  were  having  their late morning  cup  of  tea .

Adi took  a  sip from  the hot  and steaming  cup  of  tea and  asked." Savi  dear ?? "
"Yes  Adi ??"
"Is  anything bothering  you ? Want to  say  something ? I  see you  are not usual  self . You  are talking to  me only in 'yeahs  and  No's ' whereas previously  for  my  one word querry  you  used  to fill a  paragraph  !  Ha Ha HA ! "
"And  why  will I  not ? "burst  out  Savi as  if  it  was  just  waiting  to  come  out  from  her , "Everytime  I tell you to  listen to  my  past  story  you simply  turn a deaf  ear  to  it . We are  very  soon  going  to  marry and it  is  just right that  you  should know everything about  me . I  feel  very  guilty !"

"Oh  my  my ! So  my  Savi is  worried about  that  ! What is  there to know about  you luv ?? You  Savi , me Adi , we  gonna marry soon is  enough for  me . Past  is  past forget  it , think  about our  life  ahead  Savi "

"Now  no  way you  are  going  to dismiss it  to  day , by   these  sweet  talks of yours Adi  !To  day  in  the  evening  we  are  going  to  the  beach  and there I  will unburden  myself  of  my  past  to  you , not  to inform  you  but to make  myself one  with  you !"

"But  Savi .."

Savi  cut  him short  and  said "No  ifs  and buts , we  are  going  there and  you are  listening  to  me  OK ? Now  get  up , and  dont go  on  asking  for  more  tea , get ready  , we  are  having  lunch  outside , seeing  some  movie and  then to  the  beach , and it  is  decided ."She  said  all this  so  authoritatively ,Adi simply  looked bewildered  with  admiration for  her another mood  swing . 

"Now  do  I  have any choice  ?? You  win  my  luv ! " and  he  pulled  her close to  him and  filled  her  lips  and  cheeks  with  his love  and  care  filled  kisses !

"Now  you  stupid , stop it  and  get  ready fast or  we  will miss the local , and stop this  habit  of yours of  holding me for  the  slightest  pretext ." But  the  smile  on her face  betrayed her utterings  !!! 

When  they  reached  the  beach  the  sun  was    above  the  horizon .The sandy  beach was  bustling  with  activities of  the  Saturday evening  crowd .People  were in perfect  holiday mood!

Adi  and  Savi went  straight  to  the  rocky  end , and  chose a rock away  from  the spray  of  misty  droplets of  wave  splashes  .Except  for  the  wave  sounds  the place  was perfectly  calm .

They  sat  very  close  to  each  other . With  Savi's story  they  were  going  to be  further  close , one in all repects .In  thoughts , in  deeds  and  in sufferings  too !

"Now Savi come on with  your  story  luv , make  me  also feel  how  much  you  have  suffered  , I want  to  suffer as you  did .
Our  sharing  will ease the  burden you had   carried  for  so  long  ! "

"Yes  Adi , I know, because  if  I  withheld  anything  from  you ,you  are  sure  going  to  kill me  for  that  !Will I ever  take  the  pleasure of  sharing  my  sufferings  from you ?"

She  started with  it .It  was a  story full of   onslaughts of  pain and  suffering on a  girl  , both  by  nature and mankind. She  was an  orphan , left at the  doorsteps of  a
missionary  orphanage. When she  was only three months  old , the smallpox  vaccination caused some  reaction , making  her  right  side  paralysed , but gradually the  paralysis  was  cured  with  the  only side  effect  that  her  right leg  was  1/2 inches  shorter  than the left  one. She  lived  with  it and  adjusted  herself  very well so  much  so  that she  was  perfectly  normal ! Everything  was going  on  as  normal as  in any orphanage , she  was  growing  to  be a normal  healthy and  attractive  child. She  was eight  years old .

And  this  attraction became curse  for her , the superintendent  there started  abusing her  sexually , she  couldnt  resist , as  she  had  nowhere  to go and  no  one  to  whom  she  could  say anything. She  suffered and  suffered silently , making  her  very   resillient and   repulsive of  the  males .But  her  good  luck that the  suprintendent  was  transferred  and  the  new one  was a quite  different  man !

She  was quite  good at  studies , she  grew up as a fine  and  attractive  young  lady but  again the disease of  blood  defficiency    struck  her. She  became  an  ugly  woman , with  the  loss of  hair , associated  with  the  disease .But she  was a fighter , and  the  missionaries   also  helped  her , by  proper  medication  she  became  alright .Recovered  her old charm ,  graduated  got  a  job  and  moved  to the  girls hostel and  then met  Adi !!

".............and  then  I  met  you  Adi "She kept  quiet, Adi  kept  quiet , only  the  waves  talked ! The sound  of  waves  were  similar  to  the  sentiments  in their  hearts.Adi  was weeping and  was  about to  burst with  her  sufferings  and Savi knew how  much  Adi  suffered because  of  her  story   .

Adi  got  up  Savi  also   got  up holding  his  hands . They walked  together to   another rock  which  was being showered  by the misty  droplets , they  held  close  to  each other , let  themselves  soak  with the mist , wept  and  wept  in each  others  arms .The  tears , the  sufferings and  the  mist  , mixed  together , washed their pain and  they  were fresh  again !

"Savi  , it  is  getting  dark  dear , let  us  go "

"Yes Adi , I  am so relieved now  , and  feel  so light  and  happy , never  felt  so in  my  life !"

 They  held  each  others  hands and  started  walking towards  the road  running  parallel  to  the  beach to  catch  the  bus . They were so happy  now by sharing each  others joys  , sorrows , sufferings , they  felt  one  with each other. 

The  waves were left  behind  striking  on  the rocks as  if  saying  good  bye  to them !  

They reached  the  bus  stand  , one  bus  was parked  , but theirs  was the next  one .They  went into the  shed and  waited  for  their bus  to come  , talking  and  talking  about  their  future  life ,and  this  and  that , they were lost  in themselves ,oblivious  of  the  surroundings !

Suddenly  there was a thundering and deafening explosion , which  shook  everything nearby !

 Savi could  see Adi falling down , she  caught  hold  of  him , but  her hands felt  sticky  with some  wet liquid , he  was slumping  down and  down , blood  oozing  out first  in a trickle  and then a stream and finally he slumped  down on the ground  with Savi holding  him ! He was bleeding  profusely. 

He was struck by the shrapnel from  the  bomb  explosion from the  waiting  bus . Confusion took over all around  the  place .People were shouting  and  running here and  there out  of  fear, and Savi was seeing Adi bleeding and helpless in her  arms ! She  was crying ! 

"ADi , please  Adi , dont ......., Adi  dont ...., what  will I  do  without  you ????Adi  ,my Adi ............" But  another  onslaught of  mankind  on her , she  lost  him ! 

Six  months  later :

Savi  moved to  her  hostel . Continued  with her  job  but  could  never come  to accept   the  fact  that  she lost  him . She was desperate .!She  thought  many times  to commit  suicide , but  her love  , hope and strong  will stopped her  from  doing  so !

May  be fate  has  something  else  in store  for  her , may  be  for  better ????

She  goes  to  the mall everyday , stands resting  on  the  railing , may  be  waiting  for  ADI ?????

After the  wait  is  over late  in  the  evening , she  goes  back  to  her hostel , for  another day  of  waiting !

She  is  loving and living for  Adi  !!!!!!!!!!!!





P.S.  This  is  based  upon a  true  story of someone close  to  me in  real  life  !
