 OCTOBER IS THE BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH IN USA.

Although,this topic seems to be exclusively only for women,but in my opinion it is a matter of concern for every one who has mother, sister, daughter,wife or any female member in the family. But let me tell you october is not just the reminder of Breast cancer but also other cancers as well and how to take preventive measures against any cancer. So many lives are touched by it if one family member has this dreadful disease. Regular check up, self exam and early detection all are vitally important to save life. We can keep this disease at bay by empowerment of knowledge and proper diet. The more knowledge you have about this disease the better you can take care of yourself.There is this site called "GET BCF" developed to provide you with up to date helpful information about breast cancer , risk, diagnosis and treatment,risk of recurrence and ways to manage that risk.

The good news is that scientific validation for the protectective power is accumulating.By eating "RAINBOW" of food of colors or by emphasizing certain food groups, such as "Phytochemicals"found in red, orange,green and yellow vegetables. We are exposed to oxidizing and cancer producing substences daily but compounds found vegies help limit the free radicals initiation and DNA damage caused by those "Carcinogens"(cancer causing cells). Therefore, appear to lower incidence of vrious types of cancers including breast cancer. 

Four important foods to fight Cancer:

1-- FISH..fatty fish like Salmon,rohu, qatla and Sardine are high in Omega 3 which lowers the risk of cancer specially breast cancer. You should have atleast 3-5 servings in a week. 

2-- CRUCIFEROUS VEGETABLES..Broccoli,cauliflowers, cabbage are powerful cancer fighters because they contain antioxidant. They turn on the chemicals that are natural detox enzyme. Eat them raw or steamed to get their full benefits.

3-- BERRIES.. The more colorful the better their benefits. These fruits are rich in antioxidants which protect cells from damage. They contain ELLAGIC ACID which has shown to protect against breast cancer and certain other cancers. in Lab studies. Include these in your diet whenever you can. 

4--WHOLE GRAIN. It is a low fat source of fiber which regulates level of estrogen(female hormone) and insulin. The two hormones that are linked to breast cancer 

WHAT TO WATCH
1-- RED MEAT. You don't have to forgo it completely but limit them to 2 -3 servings a week. 1-5 servings a day doubles your chance to get the cancer 

2--ALCOHOL..As low as two drinks a day can increase risk of getting breast cancer but also other cancers also. 

In the end I would like to add , that please keep yourself up to date with the knowledge about this dreadful disease . Knowledge is power and it gives us ability to fight back and ablity to keep us healthy and beautiful person inside and out. You may not be important to the whole world but to one person you may be the world & your life is too precious.

2day i was reading TOI at office and saw a news there related to breast cancer which states that caffein not linked to breast cancer...
Researchers found that no link between caffein and breast cancer but few earlier studies had suggested caffein could play a role in breast cancer...it may be additional information to this blog dear princess and may be linked up with this blog...U always writes blogs on informative topics...

There are many cancer awareness programmes organised in hospitals in cities. Govt and NGO organisations are taking initiatives to spread awareness but I guess the awareness is limited to people in small towns and cities. More health camps in rural and remote areas will help the women living there and so many lives can be saved.
