 Rest in Peace, Michael Chrichton

>> Click here to view original post

It came as quite a shock when I read about the death of Michael Crichton, the man who gave us Jurassic Park! He was just 66 and succumbed to cancer. His death was unexpected even for his family. May Crichton's soul rest in peace! A medical man who excelled as a novelist, film maker and a TV series director too.

Here's some trivia about Michael.

* Michael was 6'9" (2.06m) tall!!

* He played basketball at Roslyn High School, NY.

* Michael originally published his novels under two pen names: Jeffrey Hudson and John Lange

* In 1971 a young director was assigned to give Michael a tour of Universal Studios when his book "The Andromeda Strain" was being made into a movie. The young director was Steven Spielberg!

* Michael was named one of the "Fifty Most Beautiful People" by People magazine in 1992.

* In 2002 Michael had a newly discovered ankylosaur, named for him, it is called Crichtonsaurus bohlini.

* When writing Michael ate the same thing for lunch every day, it helped him concentrate on the project.

* Michael tried to get producers interested in doing ER in 1970, calling it E.W.: Emergency Ward at that time. The project was idle for over 20 years until Steven Spielberg found out about it suggested it would make a better TV series than a movie.

* Michael's books have been translated into thirty-six languatges.

* Thirteen of Michael's novels have been translated into films [2007]

Michael Chrichton! A man with an amazing mind and imagination! A mega movie like Jurassic Park that caught the imagination of both the young and the old alike wouldnt have been made if not for him.
What a loss to the literary world! May his soul rest in peace!
