 Warfare is Good

All religions are full of tales about battles and wars. The Hindu mythology is also repleat with wars between Gods and demons. However, inspite of two world wars, this planet has never been free of it. Wars fascinate but most of us would prefer PEACE.

I share with you different perspective of war here. These ideas were mooted during a conference on the Evolutionary Origins of War and anthropologists, archaeologists, primatologists, psychologists and political scientists were in consensus on this emerging theory. Details are available at…..

The new theory moots………….

We are focused on the harm wars do and forget that it requires a very high level of cooperation. This is a heritage worth hanging on to.

Warfare is not a product of human culture and is as ancient as mankind and has played an integral role in our evolution.

The cooperative skills essential for being effective warriors have been converted in to the modern ability to work towards a common goal.

Warfare was responsible for evolution of social behaviour and the real driver was an interplay between alternative benefits of peace and warfare.

Cultures where diseases and parasites are common prefer to drive away strangers who may carry new diseases and consequently become more insular and xenophobic. In contrast, cultures with a low risk of disease are more open to outsiders. These attitudes to outsiders are responsible for a culture's attitude to war.

Modern warfare with its complex strategies, and advanced, long-distance weapons bears little resemblance to the hand-to-hand skirmishes of our ancestors. This may mean we're left with battle instincts unsuited to our time.

I personally believe that this is an attempt to give a positive connotation to warfare by western intellectuals. The need for this has arisen because....

a)War is big business and a global war is bigger business
b)The current financial meltdown requires drastic measures and a global war is a easy political solution.
c) A war will distract the common people from real issues and will help perpetuate current economical big wigs.

More coloured pics relating to I-World War are posted in my zone.

Warfare is never GOOD:it is neither a meritorius HERITAGE , nor a product of HUMAN culture. It HAS impacted our culture NEGATIVELY, breeding violence !!
More blood has been shed in the name of religion and GOD than in political wars.In stone age they were mostly squirmishes, conflicts for safe suvival, with a few, waged for territorial expansion. With the dawn of civilisation, religious thoughts on non-violence peace and demarcation of political States,
wars reduced.
Red cells fighting virus is a natural reaction but war is NOT a natural phenomenon but rare occurrence, which can be contained.
The increasing stockpile ofindustrially manufactured war weaponry, for passive self-defence , has led to a fear psychosis of possible politico-commercial wars !! Nowadays noibody can wage wars against others' sovereignity without provacation. Now the attitude towards outsiders has also drastically changed due to globalisation.SAY NO TO WARS !!

An entirely different perspective from saurabh.

Constant strife may be inevitable but wars as we know them are avoidable if the nations keep their imperialistic aspirations in control. other issues can be solved on the discussion table.

The effort to legitimise wars is deplorable and wars should not be used as an economic tool.

No one can escape from war...!!

In our body , every time the virus r fighting with red cells, n that's why a man is live.

to bring peace on earth, war is necessary..,
as illustrated in 'Ramayan' n Mahabharat'..

the people, who know that life is not everlasting, r never araid of war.., n only due to those people , we r safe n able to live with peace..

Nice post..

Thank you friends for the support. SGS has rightly pointed out that we need to harness these skills for PEACE.

Sazzyjee the persons controlling the strings may not be interested as u have suggested but awareness regarding the spin given to perfectly straight forward issues is essential.

The purpose was to bring to notice the covert ways by which wrong concepts are being given a white-wash to make them accetable.

WW has elucidated it perfectly by example.
