B9IN said: WELL IT TAKES EDUCATION TO UNDERSTAND GOOD FILMS, IN INDIA WE ARE CONSIDERED EDUCATED IF WE CAN WRITE OUR NAME WE R IN THE KINDERGARTEN STAGE SO A MAJORITY OF OUR FILMS R LIKE A MAJORITY OF OUR POPULATION'S EXPECTATION. OUR FILM MAKERS KNOW HOW LESS IT TAKES TO PLEASE MORE PEOPLE. PROFIT/BUSINESS SENSE OF THE FILM INDUSTRY IS MORE DEVELOPED THAN THE CREATIVE SENSE AFTER ALL THIS IS A MATERIALISTIC WORLD MONEY...MONEY..ALL THE WAY July 31, '07 |

It's just that the name Hollywood is big and they have stupendous resources and technology and famous actors that the films work wonders. There are few Holly films worth watching. For example, Spiderman 3 was so bloody Hindi filmi, man!The old James Bond flicks too. I don't know which one it was, but I saw a bit of Sean Connery starrer JB. It reminded me of any Dharmendra-Amirsh Puri starrer of 70s - a damsel in distress and the hero captivated by a guffawing villain, who throws them to a nasty crocodile (in this case a shark), but the hero saves himself and the girl and fights the villain and throws him to the same shark! I agree with Madhumati, some Bengali and Marathi films are subtle and awesome. And, right now there is better cinema coming from Bolly shed too. As long as they give me something worth watching - copied, remade or otherwise - I'm happy. June 22, '07 |

Talent-wise, there are some good artistes but they are not given the chance to prove themselves. A major part of the blame goes to the public because they shy away from good cinema. The film makers have to live too just like anybody else. So, people's mentality has to change in the first place. A very good deed that the Bombay film industry has done is to bring unity through the use of the Hindustani language (a merging of Hindi and Urdu) or else I, like other thousands of people would have never got to know the language as we have never studied it. I would still say that a bad Hindi movie is terrible but bearable unlike a bad American movie which is just horrible. June 21, '07 |

madhumitaCAP2000 said: yes u are right but again partially in the sense that we do produce good films and as u said new themes are coming up but then sometimes even the classes like to go in for masala movies and u have to agree that hindi ,bengali and to some extent marathi movies are less loud, less melodramatic and les demonstrative i.e. they are more refined and subtle compared to othe regional movies. by the way no arguments eachone to his own but have u seen Mr.and MRS Aiyyar its lovely and call me whatever u may but ai like comedies too and some really good ones have come up in the recent past did u see any and once upon a time i used to stay at the YWCA calcutta and had SOMA DEY as my roommate she was struggling then I dont know if she could make it any idea May 15, '07 |

We need to come out of Big B culture ..... And our directors shall have to think unique and break themselves out from the shackles of social melodramas.... May 12, '07 |
