Indian version of Madame Tussaud's at Girgaum Chowpatty

>> Click here to view original post

If celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan have found a place at Madame Tussaud's, London, they might soon find a place in a Bombay wax musuem too. A Madame Tussaud like musuem is all set to be made here at Girgaum Chowpatty too. Read all about it here...

I'm sure it will be called Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum. And the first statue to be installed would be Shivaji Maharaj's. Well, of course, it's well deserved, but it has more to do with the fact that the Standing Committe chairman Ravindra Waikar is also a Shiv Sena Corporator. And after Shivaji maharaj, the next statue would be Bal Thackeray's.

Rs 30 crore is the budget allotted, how much of that would be actually used? Your guess is as good as mine. And since it's a BMC undertaking, maybe the first year it would be spick and span, but after that it would be as sad as Taraporewala aquarium. And these guys shamelessly call Taraporewala a tourist spot! I cringe with shame if I have to take anyone new to Bombay there. So, the easy way out is not tell them it exists.

Though I don't mind being proved wrong.

The government should limit itself to governing....running museums is the job of professionals! I hope they realize it and let the new museum live longer....
