WHEN THE GUNS WILL FALL SILENT?- POEM

Dear friends,

The memory of Mumbai terror attacks is still lingering in the mind. Incidentally, NDTV Indian of the year 2008 awards fittingly went to mumbai attack victim Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan and National Security Gaurds- adding credibility and esteem to the awards themselves. The background of it all is terrorist strike. My poem tries to capture the trauma, denounce the barbaric act, hail the matyrs who fought valiantly for the nation and mourn the death of innocents.

When the Guns will fall silent?

             Heartless terror machines

with rounds and rounds of bulletted machine guns

             alighted the ship

            onto a way-laid boat

           claiming their first victim-

           the hapless boatman

          who propelled them into

         Indian waters-

for heartless was the way they set upon

        breathing terror

       and eating terror

      is the way they lived-

The terror machines with machines in hand

     flopped onto the shores

    of the commercial capital

with intent to strangle the commerce out of it-

    When everyone dropped gaurd

    unexpecting the descent of

    a terror brigade

    it mindlessly barged in

    waylaying motorcades

    to drive into the sprawling

   commercial kingdom-

   breathing terror

   and speaking terror

   through stoccato gun fire

   tada-tada, tada-tada, tadadada dud-

   smashing lives out of

   the ill-fated innocents

at the ill-fated Chatrapathi Sivaji Terminus, Taj and

   Nariman House-

blood dotting and streaming down floors

to tell the tale of the gory act.

   Terror machines continued to strike

   at the counter acting brigade

   snuffing out the last of

  One Hemant Karkare

  One Unnikrishnan

 and many an innocent victims

Battle between terror and the nation raged-

  The nation agonisingly watched sleeplessly

  the 72 hour ordeal

  with bated breath

 The Nation won the terror

 proving the dictum-

the bad gunners will be slain by the guns.

Hail the matyrs! Hail the innocent vitims! Hail the nation!

Keep vigil against the terror machines!

Nip the diabolic intentions in the bud

 to silence the guns forever

 Jai Hind!

Thanks for reading. Your valuable comments are welcome.

I think the terrorist might have been tortured a lot before becoming a terrorist.
We should keep in mind that never to torture weak minded, narrow minded people.
