For if We Could Judge Oureslves, We Would not be Judged! - The Bible

For if we could judge ourselves, we would not be judged! – The Bible

I’m glad I’m not judgmental like all you smug, superficial idiots! - Printed on one of my T-shirts! And gives me much room for thoughts! Deep and pensive!

We weren’t born judgmental; I guess we imbibed this trait as we grew up, learning from the immediate influences and the society at large. For isn’t everyone around us tuned to a hi-frequency wavelength of being judgmental on the others? Someone’s always right/wrong; what someone does is always good/bad; how someone runs their life is always for us to approve/ disapprove; the decisions someone makes is always ours to pass/fail! So it has come to be, that we have deified ourselves, in an imaginary moment of enlightenment and self-righteousness! This is why a we hear a lot on moral policing!

And therefore it becomes imperative to answer certain questions. What’s right and wrong? Good and bad? Definitions we may find in dictionaries, but applications of the same? Could we ever come out with precise parameters for judging right and wrong? On a 26/11 scenario, if you have a muslim friend hidden in your house, and someone comes banging the door to look for him, would you open the door for him? Or shut it on his face? Now there are two acts here! One, you’ve hidden the truth! Two, you’ve shut your door on a visitor! So, on a 1-10 scale of morality, where would you rate yourself?

To the muslim, what you’ve done is right; to the visitor, what you’ve done is wrong. So, isn’t it all about perceptions? Isn’t it situational; contextual? Let’s take three situations: 1. A burglar breaking into a house to rob the house of jewels, money and anything valuable; it was his chosen profession. 2. A boy shoplifting; he’s part of a racket of criminals; he’s a victim of circumstances. 3. A street urchin running away with a pound of bread from a small time tea shop; he has been hungry for three days; no one to feed him; no job to support himself! He’s just addressing the most basic of needs - hunger! (Just some random examples; not a yardstick by any means).

The instant reaction to all the three scenarios is usually the same. All three of them, if and when caught, are beaten up without mercy by the ‘public’, which comprises of all and sundry, most of them not aware of why they’re involved in the act! No one ever pauses to ponder as to the circumstances that led those ‘wrong-doers’ towards such a lifestyle!

So? ha haaaaaaaaa I’m not propagating theft; I’m not questioning the law! This is a different exercise; an attempt to awaken the hibernating humane values in us; to de-rust the brain that has conveniently slipped into a thoughtless mode; to re-visit our value-systems that have been molded by generations of conditioning; to work on a much needed latest edition of do’s and don’ts of morality and ethics! (the last edition seems to have been an unpublished version of genetic hand-downs)!

We have been debating for centuries over issues like abortion, euthanasia, homosexuals, live-in relationships and the likes, only because we’ve never allowed ourselves to look beyond the obvious; think higher than the usual; rise above the mundane!

A friend of mine is forever chastised by his family for ‘allowing’ his wife to perform in the theatre! Another friend is ridiculed for ‘letting’ her daughter bring home friends. Yet another is nearly exiled for going on tours with male colleagues! So, it doesn’t stop with judgment, it goes on to hand out verdicts too! And the verdict is almost, always, ‘found guilty’!

Why don’t we just accept people the way they are? Aren’t relationships a package deal? Take what comes; be happy about what’s in it; don’t question what’s missing! Every man is born free; born an individual; born with a right to his time and space; born to evolve by himself; born to be accepted as he is!

Osho speaks beautifully about this aspect. He says, ‘just accept people for what they are; don’t be judgmental; and the best way to master this is to love everyone’! Profundity in simplicity! That’s what Osho’s messages to man are!

And to love is the most natural action for a human heart, isn’t it? The easiest too, if only we learn to let go; learn to accept! The way to a hassle free heart, uncluttered mind and trouble free life, is never to judge, but only to love; unconditionally; sans expectations!

I hereby begin the ‘love the world’ campaign! The slogan being, ‘I love; I’m love’! Register here for membership! No need to fill profiles!

Judging is a difficult business in the first place and not to judge any body, let the life flow as it is, well, I wish we could live in a world like that. But than every happening has two sides, isn't it, what about the flip side. I think you are one person who is qualified enough to write about the flip side of NO JUDGMENT. Imagination is not restrictive in any way whatever may be the judgement.

way back in the early 80s I had a few friends who were lets say not "Straight". I have seen society ridicule and literally ostracise them. Today they are all well spoken off in their selected fields.

Well thought of and written post....Cheers!!!!r />

A BLOG WHICH PRICKS OUR CONSCIENCE IF WE INTROSPECT OURSELVES IN THE LIGHT OF ITS THEME ...AS OSHO SAID "ACCEPTANCE" OF PEOPLE OR EVEN OUR OWN SELF , DESTINY , WHAT WE HAVE , WHAT WE ARE , MAKE US TO LOVE OURSELVES ,ACCEPT OURSEWLVES WHICH LEADS TO LOVE EVERYBODY ,AS YOU START APPRECIATING THEIR SITUATIONS AND ACCEPTING THEM STATUS QUO ,WITHOUT BEING CRITICALLY JUDGEMENTAL !!!
EASIER SAID THAN DONE !!IRRESPWECTIVE OF THE BELIEFS AFTER BEING BRAIN WASHED WE CANNOT COIMT LOVE OR ACCEPT TERRORISTS !!!
HOWEVER , THERE WILL BE JUDGEMENTS ,VERDICTS AND PROCESS OF CORRECTION ,HEALING AND TRANSFORMATION BUT WHAT THE BLOG AIMS AT IS TO REINVENT OURSELVES BY REVISIN OUR VALUE SYSTEMS , WHICH ALWAYS JUDGED PEOPLE INDISCREETLY !! LET US NOT FALL PREY TO MOB JUDGEMENTS OR PRECONCIEVED CONCLUSIONS !!
AN OUT OF THE BOX , PERIOD BLOG..NEEDS TO BE GRASPED LUCIDLY !!!

----------yo road warrior, it's not just about Mr.X not having the right to keep his opinion to himself; it's also about not being judgmental; not judging a woman by her clothes; smoking/drinking doesn't make anyone 'bad'; it's not a vice, only a habit; and habits don't form the person! we often get muddled up with 'rules' and 'values', don't we? ----------

and swifty, i take it you meant it as a humour; if not buddy, training is about 'skill sets'; not trying to change a person; just upskilling;

and asy and others, it's not so difficult as it seems; it's just the art of knowing the difference between 'having your own opinion' and 'being opinionated'; and this shouldn't be tried hard; it should happen naturally; believe me, it really works------------

-------and trust that rascal gary to look into undies; couldn't be satisfied with cupboards eh? -----ha haaaaaaaa
