 APE no more!

Monkey see, monkey do!

More the norm than the exception ...lately that is  or perhaps from time immemorial.  Does it have to be that way? Search me, I am still on the quest for a fitting answer.

I happen to be a propounder of the theory that nothing, virtually nothing in the world can claim to be original-except of course first man and woman and bigosh! their claim to ORIGINALITY ends just in ORIGINAL SIN.

From the moment we are born, we ape, we mimick, we copy, we emulate and if I were to use a more polished way of saying this, I would resort to stating thus:  we assimilate, only to reproduce with a slight variation giving everything a brush of our very own unique touch, with a resultant new hue.!

But, sometimes..seems we are just too tardy to do the 'unique non-pareiled' tattempt to a concept and land up regurgating...and risk being termed 'copycat' ...such words as 'off the assembly line', 'cookie cutter houses', pops in my mind at this juncture.  Would very well serve the purpose for an auto part but certainly human mind and brain is deserving and capable of much more?  Else all those inventions where one thing led to another and viola! eureka! would never have happend.

Where am I arriving with all that musings above?  Guess I am just beseeching, do not copy mindlessly - be it CANADIAN SLANG, american mannerisms, matinee idol's most recent hairdo, the ace and outlandish costumes from the ramps of Milan, the coolest buzzword that is making the rounds this instant..and the list is endless. Let us NOT bid farewell yet to individuality.

Would it not be just awesome to take the best that is out there at random and modify it for the better utilizing our distinct and unmatched persona?  Trust me, the possiblities are endless and definitely interesting.  And to top it all, they say the MAKER destroyed the mold after he created each one of us-HE did not clone us. How very gracious of the MAKER!

Leads everyone wondering where I assimilated my darns and howddy boys, and ssup dudes and okiedokies and  and.......and ..... from..- oh well! am just a victim of my surroundings interjecting all that I absorb with a sazzy(ssy) twist of course.!

Viva la individualism! Ape no more!

This will sure induce one more level of paronia in me, I mean what the heck, if i can't bring something new of my own, but then I should not get suicidal on creating new and stay away from the kitsch in all senses.

But Saz, haven't you heard? "Imitation is the best compliment"
By aping, the aper is basically telling the apee that "you're so cool, so perfect, that I don't want to spoil things by putting in my individualism here". So there!

Wonderful comment by Gentle Whisper...

Well.. I agree.. Aping is but a part of evolution.. until people learn and emphasize their style.. ultimately for someone else to ape around..

..the need to justify and defend gives the game away! the pretence is deeper than the veneer one seeks to put on the act ..not a viable state of being!!!

ps. cant put this up as one comment :shrugs:
