The most ignored "minority" that exists

Rambles galore

The country has gone to the polls and the voting for who shall form the next government has begun. The citizens are casting their votes, a powerful fundamental right, granted to each citizen above the age of 18, by the Constitution, irrespective of religion, gender, caste, colour or creed. Basically, all above the age of 18, who are staying within the country, have this right.

Drifting a bit.....feel this right to vote should be extended to the NRIs also. This would require a huge amount of coordination and paper work, but would be worth it, for the NRIs are contributing to the Indian economy in their own way and should not be denied this precious right just because they are working outside the country. Changes in the Constitution will be needed for the same too.

Coming back, India has a huge amount of diversity in physical features, which leads to a variety in culture, food, clothes, life style, festivals.

We also have castes, sub castes. sub sub castes; scheduled castes and tribes, dalits. Most have special privileges and reservations. Do reservations in colleges help? Does it really help in upliftment of the targeted group? Nah...the difference is glaring. The answer lies in providing equal opportunities starting from school, better nutrition etc.....improving things in the areas where they belong and originate, and then competing with others at the national level.

We also have division on basis of religion....minority and majority groups that exist and some special privileges given to certain minorities, which has been a bone of contention amongst the hardliners.

We have divisions on basis of gender.....male or female, the third sex is also actively fighting for their rights and why not. They have every right to be in the mainstream and not be ridiculed just because the Lord made them a little different.

We have divisions based on rural and urban. We have seats reserved for women at the Panchayat level and the same is being pushed for others too. DO WE REALLY NEED RESERVATIONS FOR WOMEN? I am against it. Till mindset changes, reservations will not make a difference, for only the women from powerful political families will continue to enter (mostly).

Keeping the current situation in mind, what are the most important issues that are irking the country? Casting dark shadows of doubt and uneasiness in minds that think, or atleast seem to? I would say...terrorism from in and around, recession and job insecurity, unemployment ?

So with the country having gone to polls and the parties fighting, bad mouthing the other, the number game with its permutations and combinations being considered, the various alliances being formed....one would think the political class in the quest for power in the 2009 Elections would debate on how each would do better than the other in resolving issues.
Now to even the most optimistic such an idea is utopian. The politicians meanwhile are speaking for Muslims, Dalits, Christians, Hindus, the haves, the have nots and above all about themselves.
From Varun Gandhi to Lalu to Mayawati to Maneka to ........gross misuse of "free speech", taking it to a new depths of depravation!

Some comical exchanges that reflects the height of desperation, that common sense, cordiality and etiquettes cease to exist.....ahh the dance of democracy to the tune of stupidity ? what?

Take a look at what our leaders say they will do for those whose votes they want. Oh one would love a silent election, isn't it ! As the EC has banned use of posters, banners etc, the mighty gobs should also be banned, sealed, zipped... from mouthing crap. Competitive degeneration we can all do without indeed !!!!!!!!

While one Gandhi asked Hindus to offer their second cheek to Muslims, Varun says Hindus should retaliate. We are in love with this second Gandhi. Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamna

The DMK would welcome creation of a separate 'Eelam', a homeland for Sri Lankan Tamils. DMK Chief M Karunanidhi in Chennai

“Manmohan Singh is the weakest Prime Minister the country ever had. Nowhere in the world, a situation exists when the PM has no powers and someone else is pulling the strings.’’ L.K. Advani in Mathura

I want to remind Advaniji that it was the BJP government that freed terrorists who attacked India and took to Kandahar. Sonia Gandhi, in thiruvananthapuram
One doesn’t have to be a mother. Mother Teresa was not a mother but she understood the pain of others. Mayawati, BSP Leader reacting to Maneka

She cannot understand the pain of a mother since she is not a mother. Maneka Gandhi

I have heard that she (Sushma Swaraj) has called me `Tihar Ka Jallad'. I am yet to confirm it. But if she has, my word for her will be `Putna'. If she has not called me any names I withdraw my words. Lalu Yadav

The heads of those speaking against Hindutva should be cut off. BJP MLA M. P. Renukacharya in Davangere

Gosh....see what we elect? This lot takes decisions for us?

AND

NOTICED ANYTHING? SOMETHING MISSING?

DO YOU?

All the so called leaders speak the language that has hues and shades of caste, creed, religion, region, majority vs minority, gender........what lies forgotten is the good ol' "INDIAN."

The only minority nobody is speaking for is the "Indian".

Ironical, isn't it.

VERY NICE. All the politicians are having a good time at the cost of the common man. When elections arrive a lot of false promises are made. Bribes are given to the poor for their votes. In the end, after elections these same politicians disappear to their lands.
Humanity is seen no more. Each one trying to outdo the other. The judiaciary system spends crores on security of the terrorists, wish they are punished at the earliest.

THANK YOU SONIAJI FOR SHARING THIS POST.YES THIS IS MOST UNFORTUNATE THAT WE ALL SHY AWAY CALLING OURSELVES INDIANS.HARDLY 62 YEARS HAVE PASSED AND WE ALL STAND DIVIDED ON THE BASIS OF CASTE,LANGUAGE AND RELIGION AND LANGUAGE.

IT WAS PEOPLE LIKE SARDAR PATEL ALONE WHO GOIT ALL THE SMALL STATES INTO THE FOLD OF INDIAN UNION ALL UNDER ONE UMBRELLA--INDIA--HOW CAN WE FORGET THE CONTRIBUTION OF THIS GREAT LEADER AND OTHERS AFTER 1947.

IT IS DIFFICULT TO STAY TOGETHER AND EASY TO DIVIDE.WE DO NOT HAVE PEOPLE WITH STRONG NATIONAL CONVICTIONS AND PATRIOTISM AND MORAL VALUES.WE WILL HAVE SAME SET OF OLD PEOPLE WHO HAVE FAILED TO TO DOANYTHING FOR ALL OF US.LET US SEE WHAT DO THEY DO FOR ALL OF US.TAKE CARE AND GOD BLESS.
