 Happy and Gay...

Happy and Gay !!!.

Preface:
A court in India has made a groundbreaking ruling to decriminalize consensual gay sex in the capital of the deeply conservative society.

The Delhi High Court ruling, the first of its kind, applies only in New Delhi. The ruling says that treating consensual gay sex as a crime is a violation of fundamental rights protected by the constitution. (Source CBSNews.com)

The ruling overturns a 148-year-old colonial law which describes a same-sex relationship as an "unnatural offence".
Homosexual acts were punishable by a 10-year prison sentence.
Many people in India regard same-sex relationships as illegitimate. Rights groups have long argued that the law contravened human rights. (Source BBC )

It has been long and agonizing journey which is near its finale, but still a long way to go.
I’m glad that the first announcement or the signs came from Delhi and I’ll always feel proud of it.
Over the years I’ve met many guys and girls, who are trapped in a situation which did not have any classification, they did not belong anywhere even if they exist. They are perfect human beings with all the emotions intact and beyond.
I’m happy that Delhi High Court took the lead and I can’t tell you how happy some of my friends are..but its half way through…
They still get harassed by the cops, noone wants to rent them a space and jobs..thats a different story..they never tell about their orientations …
These guys and gals are beautiful and contribute to the society, if we look around.
They are humans too…..
Can we be more receptive and welcoming to them?

Thanks for reading
Know Sunday is a bad day to post a new blog but I couldn’t wait..
Cheers

nice post vinay. though m pretty late to comment, still cant help but share my thoughts on it. dont hv any frnds unfortunately who r gay, so no direct opportunity to congratulate them to the cause personally..but do believe every human has a right to choose the way in which he /she wants to express themselves. yeah we r social creatures ultimately, but its a 2 way traffic..very right u r in observing the plights they've had to go through by far globally.Fact remains, if we r social, we also shud b civilized enuf to let them hv their freedom of choice to live. even though the law is passed, am sure we all hv doubts in our mind on the applicability of such in our country atleast, where we r regressing almost always.. so..hoping for the best and wishing them all the luck they need to be left alone n b themselves n live as n how they will to.
thnx for writing on it vinay. it def'ly is an imp area of concern.

One of my close friends Vijji works for NGO that helps in the rehabilitaion of 'gays' & 'Lays'.I too have interacted with them .Most of them are so loving & caring,.They simply don't seem to be different from us....It's sad we see them through our own 'pseudo-pervert'views...I was perturbed to see a big conference going against the verdict was organized in Belgaum & Giants Group (Main) were the hosts.Since I'm the president for the ladies wing 'Giants Ekta Saheli' I sent a report to our Giants head office showing my anger agaist some members who are ill informed & seem to be governed by so called religious community supporting them. The need of the hour is proper education & awareness of this kind of preferential behaviour. However I am happpy that verdict was in favour of the 'Gay'community.
Interesting post...
