Cross Roads

At the cross roads
One stands and broods
To turn right or left
Looks at both roads!

Right looks bright
Paved, seemingly safe
Mind says take the right
Heart says try the left

One looks left
And feel totally left!
Road looks ragged
With stones all jagged!

Mind says take the right
Heart simply beats!
Mind propels one to the right
Thinking that it’s straight.

‘You can only enter’
Calls out a voice
Once you enter
You have no other choice

One falters, wondering
If it’s in deed the way right!
Sun is still bright
It still looks all right!

A few steps into the path, right
Mind tells one something amiss!
One wonders if the right is in deed right,
With a sense of fright.

A glance to the left
It looks like the new Right!
Mind says ‘you missed ‘the’ right’!
Now one wonders what is right?

Then the lighting of serendipity strikes
A literal bolt from the blue
One seems to get all the clue!
An answer to Life’s deepest blue.

Every moment is in deed a crossroad
Offering a choice and more!
One sees what one wants to see
And feels lost and at sea!

There is no recipe for sure success
It’s a process of trial and error
The trials making one stronger
And the errors wiser!

What could help though,
Is the resolve to be nimble footed!
Not to have baggage deep rooted!
To turn around and restart when booted!

Right or left is a matter of choice
Whichever one chooses, one needs to rejoice!
For not choosing means standing still
Where one started! At the first crossroads!

'booted' = when kicked hard on the derrier!Figuratively speaking...when one is facing hardship(for no fault of his/her own), one needs to take it objectively!

'baggage' = preconceived notions, inhibiting
habits & disabling apprehensions!

So what I meant was...when feeling low on account of setbacks...we tend to rely on the 'baggage' of the past experiences and tend to get in to an endless spiral of self-pity, which is counter productive!
Instead, if we accept the fact that we have 'fallen down' but make a conscious decision to 'get up and walk' gracefully, life would be much better!

Whether we stand and brood or sit and brood...we still brood! It would be better we do it in a positive way!
