Should Dr APJ Kalam have been frisked or not?

>> Click here to view original post

Read about our dear ex President, Dr APK Kalam being frisked at the Indira Gandhi International Aiport on the insistence of the Continental Airlines' Amreeki boss. For the airlines, there is no special treatment to VIPs and VVIPs and rules are rules, so even presidents and ex presidents have to go through security checks and frisking.

But, that has created an uproar in the Rajya Sabha and Praful Patel says he will investigate if someone has been wrong in this whole thing. Though I can't imagine Dr. Kalam breaking the law or carrying explosives or anything suspicious or dubious, I think if he didn't have a problem being frisked, the matter should be laid to rest. Though I wonder if they do the same for Bill Clinton or George Bush. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, they do put them through the frisking and security check too.

Though I'm sure if it were some other politician or minister, he would have made sure that the plane didn't take off. And if it were done with someone from the Shiv Sena or MNS, they would have broken the windows of the airplane. Hehehee. Well, bus se promotion hokar airbus damage karna is definitely a big deal ;) Oh, the MNS and SS bit is just to announce that Nova is back from hiding!

I have a lawyer uncle next door who says, 'woh jo bhi ho. Kanoon is kanoon.' Randomness also to prove that this is really me and not some hacker! Khee khee khee

OOYEE nice to see u back Dhaval..!!
If Continental frisked the EX-PREZ because they do a chk after every 40 passengers or something and the next person happened to be him.. then it is just his bad luck.. coz rules are rules for everyone.

But if they were acting funny on purpose then sue the b______s... so that they never do it again..!!

But the authorities gotta do a proper chk before making any allegations.

If there are a set of rules at airport, they are for our safety and security only.. Lets follow the rules.. Not make a big fuss over it.

I am sick of this VIP culture. If so and so person is not toooo busy, let the person stand in queue.

Dr. Abdul Kalam is a simple man. He is hardly concerned over such happenings.

I agree with @MyZoneCAN

these politicians r very intelligent to be on TV... like our Rakhi..with svayamvar. U know why they do not want ...send looted money abroad..send others wife's as theirs..copy and paste parking tickets on their cars in parliment etc. all r theives and chor. so they protest as usual. Degnified people like Kalam have no objections. Can they raise some ud discussions in parliment rather than wasting people's money!

whats the big deal if he was frisked as a part of security measures. we shud be glad that this american airlines doesnt follow something that we do. at the security entrance of bhubaneswar airport, there is a list of 22 ppl, or positions who are exempt from security checks at airports. this includes the PM, president, VP, leader of the opposition, loksabha speaker, chief justice, all cabinet ministers, all chief ministers, attorney general etc etc etc. what is interesting is the last name in the list. its mr robert vadra!!!!! i was shocked to see this, last year when i was comin frm bbsr to mumbai. if this is what we r upto, i appreciate that this airlines doesnt have lopsided rules, and that they frisked dr kalam!

Well, I don't see any harm or objection in APJK being frisked, but it is the mentality of Americans not to care about any protocol whatsoever, when it comes o Non-Americans. By the same scale, we whould have frisked Hillary Clinton before she leaves for her own air force 757 at the airway bridge.??? but we cannot. Coz it is their own airliner.
Differing standards... thats all about it..

Great people like Kalam don't even bother about such incidents! You can bump into Azim Premji in the Economy Section of a commercial airliner often! He doesn't throw his weight around! I am sure these people don't even ask for VIP treatment, and if one is offered, they feel very shy!
