Tongue (firmly) in cheek!

There was this not so ancient kingdom ruled by a queen! A queen who had won the hearts of her subjects!

Subjects…well, those whom she had subjected to numerous inconveniences, mildly put!

A courtier singing her praise (of course in the court) had suggested that her glory needed to be preserved for eternity. His idea was that she erected millions of her statutes all over the kingdom!

The queen was ecstatic! She made the courtier her “Advisor – in – chief”!

Why was the queen ecstatic?

Having failed to create any erection in her harem, due to her sheer presence (sheer satin negligee notwithstanding), now there would be millions of erections, albeit in stone! That had given her some perverse pleasure!

But…then she had an adversary …her own elder sister! A misfit in the royal family! The queen had always suspected the fidelity of her own mother! Her theory was that her elder sister had some ‘mixed’ blood! May be a commoner like a palace guard was ‘involved’!

The ‘bad blood’ had made the elder sister do unthinkable things! She was talking about power to people and end of imperial rule and all that dangerous nonsense!

The times were changing and people were restless!

The elder sister even had a massive congregation of commoners in a remote city! Despite heavy rain, a few hundred thousand people had gathered to show their support!

The perverse queen was not pleased. She lashed out in the open court…

“Oh…finally my elder sister got it! But what a pity it took almost a million men and rainy weather to make her wet”

She guffawed at the expense of her sister. The poor courtiers had no other option but to roll in laughter! They wanted their heads firmly on their shoulder, not speaking figuratively, but in reality!

Long live the queens and their elder sisters….commoners can wait!
