Soul --Queries.
1.Do all living things have souls ? When does life enter the body ? Is it after or before conception ? If it is before it, does the same soul enter both the egg & sperm ? Do the egg and the sperm have life ? If so, does each of them have two separate souls and how do they become one soul in the body ?
2.Can a soul of a plant or other living being, be re- born as any being ?
3.A soul of a person or an animal is said to have a separate identity, even though it may be re- born as another being. Does it have a memory ? It is said to have a memory, though it has no brain ? Then, why can a person (despite having a brain) not easily recall events of an earlier birth or of the same birth ? It is said that a baby may recall or remember past lives but is too small to be able to talk and by the time it grows big it forgets the past lives. The brain is said to have records of emotions & experience; they can be strengthened by recalling or practising; if they are not strengthened they may get erased or weak.
4.Do souls gain by experience: (a) during life in “this earth” world and (b) between lives in “this earth” world and (c) learn skills, or get knowledge or wisdom from the experience ? Can it recall or use this experience, skills, knowledge, etc., in any life in or out of this world ? Are souls who have “better” experience, of a better quality than other souls & perform better and reach the Supreme soul sooner than others ?
5.Can it split ? If so, will the separated parts of the soul then have a common or same memory, experience, skills, languages, etc., as the other parts till each part learns new things or gets new experience ?
6.Do souls merge ? If so, after merging, do they have a common identity, memory, experience, skills, etc. ?
7.How does life leave the body ? Some say that it can leave from any part and has been seen as a light and was photographed.
8.A soul may have pain, sorrow, fear, joy, guilt, honour, respect, dignity, frustration, etc. Can the emotions of a soul be reduced or increased in intensity or erased or changed or do they stay forever from life to life ? When it is a soul without a body how can it (a) Express these ? (b)Make it known to beings on earth and to other souls ?
9.Karma theory says that Good or Bad acts (in this or past lives) earn good or bad rewards respectively, (in this or later lives). By doing good to others can the bad Karma that the self (“doer”) has, be removed ? Can a soul (person, animal, plant, etc.) free “only itself ” or also others from bad Karma ? It is said that Free Will makes a person do what one likes or wants (even bad things).
10. If a person does wrong (or good) to another, is it because of the Free Will of the doer or, because of bad (or good) Karma of the latter ? How to know it ? If we know, we can act accordingly. If the former gets a reward from another being (soul), is that because of only the Karma of the former or, because of the “Free Will” of whoever gives the reward ? Can the Free Will of the giver of a reward change the nature of the reward of Karma ? Will Karma force the giver of the reward to avoid one’s “Free Will” and act according to the Karma of the receiver of the reward ?
11.If a living being (person, plant, animal, etc.) or its soul harms another living being, how can the former do good to the latter being or to its soul ? (a) find it (b) work for it (c) reverse the wrong & (d) make it happy ?
12. How to “compensate” the soul which was harmed ? It is very important to “compensate”. How to know if this was done ? Merely by doing good to others only to get good rewards and reduce or erase the effect of one’s bad Karma is not enough. It is done to avoid punishment from Karma (to the doer), only to save one’s self out of fear & so, is selfishness. However, it is a duty, to erase the bad effect on the other soul ( person, plant, etc.), to free it from sorrow or loss, etc., and to make it happy. In this world, people ask for compensation for wrong or loss caused by others. Why must they not give it (a) to those who die or (b) at least after the death of either or both parties ?
13. Can a being (or soul) communicate with the soul of another being and help it ?
14.Can material gains made by a person be used by the person after life ? Can others use them for the good of that soul ?
15. If some people work sincerely for their own or other’s family or for a company or society or government and, other people do not work or, enjoy life or exploit the workers, how can we know the reason for this behaviour ? Is it only because of Karma or “Free Will” of either or both groups ? Some say that it is the fate of the workers to work and, that of others to be free and, not to share work with the workers. Those who are suppressed or exploited get bad feelings, feel sad & become mentally & bodily sick. Their dear ones also feel sad for them and become sick. The family suffers trouble. Some of us worked too hard for employers, etc., and neglected & destroyed our families, which bore too much grief, loss, etc. Will we get good reward from Karma from sincere work for others or, bad reward for damaging our families? If we get both, (whether equally or not), they may cancel each other fully or partly.
However, our families do not get “compensation” for losses. Some of them sacrificed their freedom, lives, energy & time and worked hard to only to let us work for employers or others. Whether or not our work got any good result, will our families which sufferred get good result ? How to compensate them ?
Some people do not work or, do bad work. Their families & some others also tell them to avoid work, to exploit & cheat others, not let others work & ask them to harm others, work against the principles of the agency or organisation or society or else threaten them to face disaster. So, the good people also become unethical or do not object to evil acts, live in fear or distrust, allow evil acts and, aid or abet them. Is this proper ? This harms society, employers, etc. Will such people get bad Karma ? Is it Karma to suffer this or their Free Will acting ? If it is their Karma, must they not get a chance to do good instead of bad or allowing bad to be done by others ?
Is it fair to avoid taking the right side in a dispute for our sake or for others and, to take the path of least resistance ?
Having sorrow against such acts cause illness in one’s self. People become mentally ill with negative emotions & die. How to help these souls ? Will having negative emotions cause negative karma or is it a sin ?
16. Milk in animals is derived from blood only to feed their young. An animal must eat & live well to form milk & to give it. Or else, it will grow weak. Is it not a sin for humans to take milk from animals (even if it is not needed by its young animal) ? People are selfish & greedy for it and so exploit the cow or other animal, drink its milk, eat its flesh, use its skin & bones and since it is docile or may not attack, domesticate it and because it gives desired things (Kaama denu) call it “holy”. Do most humans give milk to those other than their babies ? Do they drink human milk when they are adults ? No other animal drinks milk after the baby stage. Why then do they choose animal (cow, goat, etc.) milk, only because it is nutritious ? They can eat well or make human milk nutritious by eating well. (Male humans can also be given medicines, to give milk).
Honey is taken as food by bees; they pollinate the plants in return. Is it not a sin for people to take it ? A flower is in a plant for some purpose of the Supreme Creator ? Why is it plucked (killed) and given to deities ? It spoils the purpose & life of the plant. What right or duty do people have to offer them (milk, honey, flower, etc., as if they made them) to deities as if they asked for them. Will they cut of the heads of those whom they think are beautiful and give them to deities ?
17. If we defend ourselves by violence, against others who may cause violence, will we be wrong and get bad rewards ?
18. Are humans in the food chain of living beings ? If so, are they at the top or middle or the bottom of it and is it proper to allow other animals to eat humans and not blame them ? If one animal eats another is it a sin ? If it is, do the eaters cause & suffer bad karma ? Animals may have nutritious matter (fish have omega 3 fatty acids & protein; eggs have many nutrients; sheep, cattle,, etc., have protein). Do they have those for themselves or for the sake of people or other animals to eat ? Is it fair to eat them. Why does one animal have to eat another ? Animals do not drink milk when they become adults. If people need to drink milk all their lives then nature would have given it; why do people drink the milk of other animals and not of only humans ? Merely because it is nutritious do they have a right to take it ? They take it from the cow and drink or sell it or, eat its flesh; after it dies they take its flesh, horns & skin. It meets their needs & wants of money, food (milk, milk products), clothing & tent roof (skin),etc. So, people call it Kaama dhenu (desire giver). If they do it to other animals they would call them the same. If animals resist this demand, people will hit or kill them. So, they become docile. People tame them, ride on them, employ them for work, exploit them & so love them,. They will then be called “holy”, worshipped and cared for till they are useful. What distinguishes the cow (or bull) from other animals except that people exploit the former more than others ? In different countries some animal may be used in such ways. They can all be called “holy”.
There is no need to take milk from the animals under the pretext of reducing their load. If milk is taken out more milk is produced. So, milk is not taken it will not be formed in the animal and will not cause loss or waste of its energy, nutrition, blood, health, etc.
Is a living being (material body), or the life in a living being or, a lifeless thing, from God or a part of God ?
Lifeless things & Life beings may (or may not) need materials as air or water (both may have energy but do not live like plants or animals), energy (as light, heat, sound, electricity, magnetism, etc.,) & food (which may or may not have life). Do they have a reason or need to be or live ? Why or for whom do they exist ? Do they have a purpose in life as bearing their karma ? If so is it wrong to use them as food or other things ?
Are they to be food for others ? Does “living” food (as plants & animals & people) grow only to be eaten ? If so, is it wrong if people eat them ? Or, do they have any other purpose in life as bearing their karma ? If so is it wrong to eat them ? Can these be hurt or killed or eaten ? What is the food of living beings to be of ? Is it Living or Lifeless thing or both ? Is it proper for a part of God to eat another part of God ? Why ? Which part of God (as living or lifeless) can another part eat ? Why ?
