August 25th saw the Technology and Finance teams all set to relieve themselves from the daily hectic schedule, stress and just chill out. All set to respond to the call of the far-away hills. It is not true that there is no better place to relax then Mother Nature’s lap? And hence we all headed out of Mumbai to have some fun and frolic.

In the midst of misty mountains, green valleys and embrace of the freezing blustery weather, the “People” headed towards one of the most exotic and amazing landscapes - MATHERAN. A place where nature calms the mind.

The excursion started on August 25th with every individual heading from his or her individual station to get to our destination at Neral. The journey began with enormous passion and though boarding with some new faces the voyage was friendly and over whelming. The journey from Neral station to Matheran was incredible and inexpressible. We walked from Dasturi to Hotel Regal. The beauty that captivated our minds as we drove and walked across the hills was breath taking. The misty mountain tops gave us the feel like nothing before. The whole experience was marvellous. We reached Matheran at 11.00 AM - as planned. The team halted in Regal Hotel, which settles amidst the hills and beautiful green landscape.

As all of us were completely exhausted and we quickly settled in the rooms allotted to each of us. First we had a good swim in the hotel pool and refreshed ourselves. Then we headed for sumptuous Gujrathi lunch. After lunch we played some outdoor and indoor games.

In the evening we all moved out together to trek and witness the scenic beauty surrounding us. Rain tried to play a spoilsport, but we were all set to venture and explore the place. Therefore the weather didn’t matter much and we marched on in the rain and fog. When we reached the various points - we were enthralled by the enchanting beauty of nature.

It was just like a dream to view the lush green mountains and deep gorges. The white cascading waterfalls and cotton like white clouds surrounding us.

We overheard one of the newbie in the technology community commenting over dinner; “If it was not for this picnic it would have taken me 6 months to know and befriend all the s/w engineers”.
This is one of the reasons why we in the technology group periodically organize such events for a large community like ours.

After dinner it was party time again. Energetic dancing, dumb charades and much more till the early hours of the morning.

Unlike every past trip of the technology group, this was a bit different one. Technology group took the initiative to do a cross dept. interaction and on this trip they were joined by the Finance team and the ShaadiTimes editorial team.

Sunday, August 26th was the final day of our wonderful trip. Every one had a real blast. The tensions, work pressure literally flew away and we headed back to Mumbai.

We had joy, we had fun, lots of rain and a bit of sun.
