Ganesha or Buddha? What does it matter?

>> Click here to view original post

I don't understand why would the RPI activists find it offensive if Ganesh idol were sculpted to look like Gautam Buddha? Come on, Ganesha is a God himself! How is it objectionable then to compare him to another God?

People make Gods out of human beings - I'm talking about the Godly treatment given to 'saints' like Asharam Bapu and the likes - then what's the problem with likening one God with the other? I think it should be seen as good cross cultural and religious thing, in fact.

I have seen Ganpati idols as a batsman, the way our cricket team peforms sometimes, it's greater insult to Ganesha! There is a Ganpati idol using a cell phone. I'm not religious or high strung, but I'd think it disrespectful to give God a human being's  attributes. Especially after the way Indian cricket team has been losing and also been allegedly involved in match fixing and stuff, how can anyone stand their most favourite God being likened to a cricketer??

Not that I credit RPI activists with anything noble. Wish RPI either got a life or just RIP!
