Tata Nano - the Rs 1 Lakh car unveiled. Check out the pictures!

It has finally been unveiled! The much talked about Rs 1 lakh worth car by Tata. And the good name is the Tata Nano! Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata unveiled the Tata Nano at the 9th Auto Expo in New Delhi today.

Here are more details on the car...

At Rs 1 lakh, Nano is the world's cheapest car; the price is almost half of the cheapest car currently available anywhere in the world. Rs 1 lakh is the dealer price, excluding VAT and transport charges.
The car will meet all current safety norms and all emission criteria.
It will cause less pollution than 2-wheelers.
Even though it's 8 % smaller than Maruti 800, it has 21 % more volume (space inside). The passenger compartment is roomy and has comfortable leg space and head room. It can accommodate four people comfortably.

The Nano has a very basic dashboard , with just a speedometer, fuel gauge, and oil light. There are no reclining seats or radio. The shock absorbers ar

e also basic, but that shouldn't make one worry about safety, as Ratan Tata claims that it has passed through the full-frontal crash and the side impact crash. It will have front disk and rear drum brakes.

The Nano has a 30-litre fuel tank with mileage of 23 km per litre and 4-speed manual gearshift, but no power steering. There are 3 versions of Nano, - on

e standard and two Deluxe with AC.

It is 3.1 metres in length, 1.5 metres wide and height is 1.6 metres, has adequate ground clearance, thus it can effortlessly manoeuvre on busy roads in cities as well as in rural areas.

The Nano will be launched sometime second half of 2008 a

nd Tata is hopeful of selling 500,000 units, which is about 4 times Tata Indica being sold.

The last time such a revolution happened was in 1983 with the launch of Maruti 800. With Tata's this venture looks like at least the gaadi part of bangla aur gaadi will be taken care of for the middle class!

Dear Nano friends,Very Happy Diwali among ur family.I feel that before purchasing a nano, the owner should be thankful to Sir Ratan Tata for his enormous effort that he has made just to see smiles in the family of the countrymen. Everyone should be able to ask himself and find the answer for the existance of NANO, so that Sir Ratan Tata also believes that the citizens are also lending their hands for themselves.Please be noted that this car has existed not for making profit which should be negligible. Sir Ratan Tata has thought for the people and it would be a sin to think that, all the people do things only for personal gain, which is seen very common in a country like ours. I request the privilaged customer to know that there are people in the country who thinks good of others and live for others too.We should also pray to GOD and ask for MILLIONs of R.TATAS so that this tradation of these heavenly things could be enjoyed by the coming Generation.
