Halla Bol - Hard hitting, real and dramatic!
Movie name:
Halla BolGenre:
DramaActor/ Actresses:
Ajay Devgan, Pankaj Kapur, Vidya BalanReview:
That's the thing about Rajkumar Santoshi's films. They hit you hard and make you think just by way of showing you reality, without being very preachy. And yet they are entertaining!
After a gap, Santoshi has brought yet another masterpiece and again, it's replete with activism. The story is about a small town aspiring actor turned superstar Ashfaque, later renamed Sameer Khan. In his journey in the industry, he gives up all ideals and morals and becomes a corrupt biggie who loses any intimacy with his close ones, including his wife.
But then at a party a spoilt brat shoots a girl and all the attendees stand there as mute spectators. This is when Sameer's conscience is caught between his true self and his superstar image. Then along with Sidhu Pankaj Kapur, who plays a reformed dacoit running a street theatre group), he wages a war against the degraded people.
Quite clearly, the plot is Jessica Lal murder case. But that's not to say that this is the only problem the movie deals with. It also addresses corruption, power play and the need for raising voice against injustice.
Like all Santoshi movies, there are fiery dialogues that would excite the audiences. Ajay Devgan gives another stellar performance but anyone who deserves a s
tanding ovation, it's undoubtedly Pankaj Kapur. Vidya Balan has done a decent job too.
The film has a lot of moving sequences. Must watch if you like thought provoking films like Rang De Basanti.
